Google has confirmed that it will host the Google I/O 2021 event this year. The annual developer event was cancelled last year owing to the pandemic. However, this time around, Google will host the developer conference virtually – much like Apple’s WWDC 2021.Google I/O 2021 will be hosted from May 18 and end on May 20. We can expect the company to unveil new hardware like the Pixel 5a. The highlight of the event, however, is Android 12 that is expected to be unveiled at the event. Google I/O 2021 goes virtual after two years; Android 12, Pixel 5a expected
Google has confirmed the Google I/O 2021 dates. The company, via a puzzle, revealed that the developer event will start on May 18.
The Google developer event will last for three days and end on May 20. The company will take the online route and host the event virtually. It had cancelled I/O 2020 due to the pandemic.

Details of Android 12 have leaked in the past. A leaked document reveals that Android 12 is set to get a visual overhaul. Android 12 will come with a Material NEXT design. Unlike Android 11, which majorly had a white background, the upcoming Android update will sport a bluish tint that is visible in light and dark themes across the interface.
Android 12 will also feature a “One-Handed Mode. It is a reachability feature which will be helpful for users with small hands who want to reach the top of the screen. The feature is quite similar to Samsung OneUI and OnePlus’ OxygenOS 11.

The Pixel 5a design renders have leaked in the past. Based on the leaked renders, we do not expect the Google smartphone to come with major design changes. The only visual change spotted is on the back of the device. Unlike the Pixel 4a, the 5a will come with a dual-camera setup. We can expect it to house a 12MP main camera and a 16MP ultrawide lens. There is also a third sensor, which could be a PDAF sensor.
It will sport a 6.2-inch flat OLED display with an FHD+ resolution. The display will have a tiny cutout on the top left corner for the front camera. The rear panel also houses a fingerprint scanner. Other Google Pixel 5a specifications include a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers.
