[Exclusive] Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL India Launch Date Set for October 22

Google's third generation Pixel smartphones will be launched in India on October 22. Both smartphones will be announced at the company's hardware event in New York City on October 9.

Google is all set to take the wraps off its third-generation Pixel smartphones at its annual hardware event in New York City tomorrow, i.e. October 9th. Along with the Pixel 3 series smartphones, Google is also expected to unveil the Pixel Slate, Google Home Hub, and a new Chromecast A day before the official launch of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones, MySmartPrice has learnt that the duo will be launched in India on October 22nd. Last year, Google had announced the Pixel 2 (review) and Pixel 2 XL (review) on October 4th and the two smartphones were made available for pre-order in India on October 26th.

Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL India Launch Set for October 22

Google will be holding a dedicated media event for the launch of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL in India on October 22nd. While we do not have any more details currently, there is a good chance that the two Pixel handsets will go on pre-order in the country soon after their formal launch. Google had tied up with Flipkart to sell the second-generation Pixel smartphones in India, so there is a possibility that the Mountain View-based company may decide to extend this partnership with the Pixel 3 series in India. Other key details such as more specific availability information and pricing remain a mystery for now.

Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL Expected to be Incremental Updates

The Pixel 3 series is expected to offer only iterative upgrades over the previous generation. As suggested by various leaked images and hands-on videos of the two smartphones, they will feature a similar design to their predecessors. However, if recent rumors are to be believed, the smartphones will come with an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. Last year’s models featured an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. Going by a recent leak, the Pixel 3 will feature a 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution, whereas the bigger Pixel 3 XL will sport a 6.3-inch panel with 1440 x 2880 pixels resolution. One of the most notable changes will be under the hood. Both smartphones will run on Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 10nm octa-core SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM. In terms of storage, both models will come in 64GB and 128GB variants. Just like the previous Pixel smartphones, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will not support memory expansion. In terms of optics, both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are expected to come equipped with a single 12.2MP rear camera with some new AI-powered features such as “Top Shot”. The “Top Shot” feature on the Pixel 3 series will work similarly to the Scene Optimizer feature found on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (review) On the front, the duo will sport two 8-megapixel sensors for selfies and video calls. As for software, the smartphones will ship with Google’s latest Android 9 Pie OS out of the box.
