Google Launch Event Today In New York

The cryptic but fun media invite comes with a simple clue that includes “I <3 NY” phrase, hinting at the Pixel 3 with the numeral in the heart emoticon. Quite recently, Google announced an entire line of hardware products, including the Google Home Mini and Max, Pixelbook, Pixel Buds, and Clips. Hence we expect the company to launch the Pixel 3 series smartphones and tablets today but add a few more surprises as well.

Google Pixel 3, 3 XL Will Share Multiple Features and Specs

The Google Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL could be quite similar smartphones with several common features and specifications. Both will run on the latest Android 9 Pie. They will pack the same flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM. The premium Android smartphones reportedly have water and dust resistance certification (IP68). In terms of storage, both models will come in 64GB and 128GB variants without the possibility of expanding the storage.

The Google Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL will feature a dual 8MP front-facing camera. Surprisingly, Google is still sticking to a single rear camera setup. The rear of the devices could have a single 12MP unit.

The Pixel 3 and 3 XL will differ in screen size and resolution, battery capacity, weight, and dimensions. The Google Pixel 3 will have a 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 2160 pixels, while the Pixel 3 XL will feature a larger 6.3-inch notched display with 1440 x 2880 pixels. The Pixel 3 would be a 2,915mAh battery, while the Pixel 3 XL gets a 3,430mAh battery. The new Pixel Series smartphones might be available for pre-orders right after the launch

Google Pixel Slate Specifications, Features

Reportedly codenamed ‘Nocturne’, the Google Pixel Slate will rival Microsoft’s Surface Pro lineup of convertible laptops. The display may an aspect ratio of 3:2, and have multi-touch and stylus support. There’s a camera on the front and the back, but the resolution is not known yet. The rear also has a minimalistic Google logo, which has started to appear on its newer products.

The top-mounted power button may also embed a fingerprint scanner, while the sides may pack antennas for cellular LTE connectivity. There’s also a USB Type-C port on one of its sides. The tablet also appears to feature front-facing stereo speakers.

One of the highlights of the Google Pixel Slate is the detachable keyboard accessory which features circular keys and a touchpad. The accessory has four pogo pins for connectivity and data transfer. Interestingly, the keyboard has a dedicated key to launch Google Assistant. The top part of the keyboard acts as a cover for the back of the Pixel Slate. Moreover, it can easily fold, which transforms the tablet into a laptop.

The Google Pixel is undoubtedly running a version of the Chrome OS. Icons visible on the screen include a back button and a centralized icon dock at the bottom. The device should run regular Android apps, and it may feature an ARM-based mobile processor or an ultra-low power CPU from Intel.

Google Launch Event Other Devices, Price

Google may launch the three Pixel branded devices today October 09, 2018. Today’s event is the company’s annual hardware launch event. The Chrome OS running tablet could go on sale immediately or within the next few days in the US. We expect the Google Pixel 3 XL may cost somewhere around Rs. 80,000 in India. The Pixel 3 may cost slightly less.

Along with the premium Pixel devices, Google will also launch a newer version of Chromecast. The subtler matte finish Chromecast reportedly costs the same but features Bluetooth connectivity and a microphone.
