Google’s upcoming mid-range offering the Pixel 4a has been doing the rounds on the internet for a long time and now it would appear that a launch date has been revealed. While Google has made no official announcement regarding the Pixel 4a, like it did months before for the Pixel 4-series, new information leaking from one of Germany’s telecom carrier puts the launch of the Pixel 4a on 22 May.
Vodafone’s German operation is the source of these leaks and it is being said that the Pixel 4a will be priced at €399 (approximately Rs 32,500). Apple recently released the iPhone SE 2020 and also has been priced similarly. It would still be wise to take these rumours with a pinch of salt since nothing has been officially confirmed and the release date has been spotted in internal documents at Vodafone.
Pixel 4a rumoured specifications
There have been a significant amount of leaks surrounding the Pixel 4a which has painted a picture of what we can expect from the device. Rumour has it that the Pixel 4a will have a 5.81 -inch OLED display with a 2340 x 1080 resolution. Unlike its older brothers, the Pixel 4 will have a punch-hole style implementation for the single front-facing camera. This means there will be no space to place the custom Soli Radar chip, a feature which incidentally blocked the Pixel 4 from selling in India.
In terms of processing, a dated Snapdragon 730 chipset is being touted for the Pixel 4a. The phone will have the Titan M security chip and will feature a 3080mAh battery. RAM and storage configurations for the device include up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage with no option to expand using a microSD card.
On the back, the Pixel 4a has been seen to have a single camera layout in square housing alongside the LED flash. The headphone jack is likely to be retained on the Pixel 4a.
