Google has confirmed the Google I/O dates for 2022. The company will host its annual developer event on May 11-12 this year. At the event, we can expect to get a glimpse of the new Android 13 features coming to Pixel smartphones and other devices later this year. At the same event, Google might also unveil the Pixel 6a as its more affordable Pixel smartphone.

Tipster Jon Prosser claims that the Pixel 6a could be announced at the Google I/O 2022 event. However, the device could be available in select regions starting in July. Let’s take a look at the Google Pixel 6a launch timeline, specifications and other details.

Google Pixel 6a Launch Timeline Tipped

Google might announce the new Pixel 6a at the I/O 2022 event on May 11. The device will come as a successor of last year’s Pixel 5a. Although the phone will be announced at the I/O 2022 event, Google will make it available in select regions starting July 28. At the event, Google will also tease the launch of the Pixel Watch, which will be announced alongside the Pixel 7 series in October 2022.

There is no word on whether the Pixel 6a will debut in India. The company did not launch the Pixel 6 smartphones last year. It also ditched launching the Pixel 5a in India. Considering the 5G network is set to roll out later this year in India, we can expect the company to make its 5G mid-range flagship available later this year.

Some key details of the 6a have leaked in the past. The smartphone is reportedly codenamed Bluejay. It will arrive in three colours – White, Black and Green. The phone is said to sport a 6.2-inch display. The device will come with an OLED screen and an in-display fingerprint scanner. 

A recent Geekbench listing suggested that the 6a will come with a Tensor SoC. It will have two Arm Cortex-X1 cores with a peak clock speed of 2.8GHz. There will be two Cortex-A76 cores as well, which will be clocked at 2.25GHz. Lastly, there will be four efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz. for graphics, there will be a Mali-G78 GPU. The listing on Geekbench revealed that the 6a will arrive with at least 6GB of RAM. It will run Android 12 out of the box.

Other leaked details include a 12.2MP Sony IMX363 sensor and a 12MP ultrawide camera. More details should surface online in the coming days.
