Google Pixel 7a is expected to launch next month in the US. The company will unveil its new Pixel A-series smartphone at Google I/O 2023. Ahead of the official launch, some key details about the upcoming Pixel smartphone have leaked in the past. The company is likely to launch its entry-level Pixel phone with incremental changes to the design. However, the phone is likely to get some key hardware and software upgrades. One area where the Pixel 7a might receive an upgrade over the Pixel 6a is face unlock support.

The Pixel 6a did not feature the AI-based facial recognition system to unlock the phone. With the Pixel 7a, Google might add a layer of convenience for unlocking the phone. The details about the same were leaked by tipster Snoopy Tech, who uploaded some images of the phone that reveal some details about the feature.

The images reveal that the Google Pixel 7a will have a flat display. The screen has a hole-punch cutout at the top centre and is surrounded by slightly thick bezels. One of the images reveals that the Pixel 7a will feature support for two types of biometric authentication. It will offer face unlock and fingerprint-based unlocking.

The Pixel 6a only offered an in-display fingerprint scanner. With the Pixel 7a, Google is finally set to offer the convenient but less-secure Face Unlock.

MySmartPrice uploaded the exclusive design renders of the Pixel 7a days before the latest leak. As per the leaked design renders shared by OnLeaks, the Pixel 7a will feature a horizontal visor-like camera module strip on the back. There will be a dual-camera setup with an LED flash. The phone is tipped to feature a 64MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. OnLeaks revealed that the phone will launch in Light Blue, White and Grey colour options.

As far as specs go, the Pixel 7a is said to feature a 6.1-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and support for a 90Hz refresh rate. There will be a 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor on the back. Details about the 12MP ultra-wide sensor type are unknown at the moment.

Google is likely to upgrade the RAM and storage options. The Pixel 7a might launch with 8GB of RAM as standard. It is tipped to offer 128GB and 256GB storage options. For selfies, the phone will feature a 10.8MP front camera sensor.

Under the hood, there will be a Google Tensor G2 SoC, which is also found in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. It is tipped to offer 18W fast charging and 5W wireless charging as well. Lastly, the Pixel 7a will boot Android 13 out of the box.
