The Pixel A series is the affordable lineup from Google, which made its debut with the Pixel 3a and the 3a XL back in 2019, also on the sidelines of the Google I/O keynote. Google Pixel 6a was launched in India last year, and now it is the turn of the Pixel 7a model to give consumers more options in the affordable premium segment in the country. Here are all the launch round-up details about the Pixel 7a and its expected specifications along with the price tag.
Google Pixel 7a Launch Date, Event Time, Where To Watch Online
Google Pixel 7a India launch date is May 11 but you could probably catch the live event for the launch on Wednesday, May 10 at 10:30 PM IST during the Google I/O 2023 keynote next week. The next day, Google is expected to reveal the Indian price for the Pixel 7a.
Google Pixel 7a Expected Price in India
Google Pixel 7a could be another Pixel phone to be priced at around Rs 40,000 in the Indian market this year. According to a report by 9to5Google, the Pixel 7a will be priced around $499 which roughly comes to Rs 41,000. And going by the past trends from Google, the Pixel 7a could be priced slightly lower than the global range in India.
Google Pixel 7a Expected Sale Date in India
Google Pixel 7a expected sale date in India has been confirmed by the social teaser this week, which hints at a May 11 sale date for the model which will be available on Flipkart as its official partner this year as well.
Google Pixel 7a Expected Specifications and Features
Google is yet to reveal the details about the new Pixel 7a model but there have been leaks courtesy of multiple sources that have left little to the imagination and barely anything but the price for Google to announce for the device. Here are the expected features of the Google Pixel 7a that have caught everyone’s eye.
Pixel 7-Like Design
The new Pixel 7a is likely to borrow the very likeable design from the premium Pixel 7 model. The vision-like camera module will carry the two sensors at the back, and the glass finish is likely to be replaced with a less-premium plastic material. The front of the phone will have the punch hole cutout and the overall dimensions are likely to make it easy to use the Pixel 7a with one hand. We are hoping that Google brings some level of durability to the model as well.
Flagship Tensor Chip For Performance
Other than the design, Google is also rumoured to be bringing the flagship Tensor G2 chipset to the Pixel 7a model. This is the same hardware that powers the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro smartphones. Google has taken the aggressive approach to have most of the premium features on the Pixel A series, hence it is hardly surprising to see them use the new SoC on the affordable model as well. It enables Google to have tighter control of both the hardware and software.
90Hz Refresh Rate Display
The leaked reports for the Pixel 7a suggest that Google will offer a high refresh screen for the first time on a Pixel series model. As you might recall, the Pixel 6a came with a 60Hz refresh rate OLED display which definitely was below par compared to the competition in its segment. Even having a 90Hz display is not exactly disruptive but an upgrade nevertheless.
Pixel Camera Upgrades
And finally, one would have to talk about the cameras on a Pixel phone. The Pixel 7a is expected to have a dual rear camera system but the sensors on the model could be upgraded with some leaks hinting at a 64MP main sensor paired with a 12MP ultrawide sensor. With the magic of Google’s computational photography, expect the Pixel 7a to give a tough fight to the competition in the imaging department.
Other Specifications and Features
As for the other details about the Pixel 7a, Google is likely to keep the screen size at 6.1-inch with an OLED panel that could offer Full HD+ resolution. The screen could support an adaptive refresh rate between 60Hz and 90Hz as per the content on the display. The Tensor G2 chip is likely to be paired with 8GB RAM and Google could bring two storage variants of 128GB and 256GB this year. The front of the phone could have a 13MP camera for selfies and video calls. The phone is likely to get a decent-sized battery that is expected to give 20W charging and for the first time wireless charging support on a Pixel device. And yes, it goes without saying that the Pixel 7a should come with Android 13 out of the box, with support for multiple OS updates and security updates.
