The much-awaited Google Pixel 8 Pro and the Pixel 8 phones have been unveiled today along with the Pixel Watch 2. Google has announced the latest smartphones in the Pixel lineup to take on the likes of the iPhone 15 series, Samsung, OnePlus, and other devices in the premium segment. The launch event today was held in Google’s headquarters in the USA.
The Pixel 8 series devices are the first to ship with Google’s latest Android 14 operating system. These devices now feature the next-gen Tensor G3 SoCs with improved performance promise. Let us take a look at the new Google Pixel smartphones in detail.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro is priced at Rs 1,06,999 in India it comes in the sole 12GB+128GB storage option. On the other hand, the Pixel 8 is priced at Rs 75,999 for the 8GB+128GB storage option. The device will be available for pre-order via Flipkart right now.

Google Pixel 8 Pro: Specifications, Features
The Pro model comes with a large 6.7-inch OLED screen with a 1344 x 2992 pixel resolution. It has a 20:9 aspect ratio, up to 2400nits brightness, HDR support, and a screen refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Powering the Pixel 8 series is the all-new Tensor G3 chipset with Titan M2 security chipset.
The 8 Pro comes with 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in India. However, the storage configuration will vary based on the location. In terms of optics, the Pixel 8 Pro comes with a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP + 48MP + 48MP sensors. The 50MP primary is a wide-angle lens, while the 48MP serves as an ultra-wide lens with upgraded autofocus. Another 48MP here is the telephoto lens with up to 5x optical zoom. To the front, the 8 Pro offers a 10.5MP selfie snapper.
Some of the camera features of the Pixel 8 Pro include up to 30x zoom, photo unblur, magic eraser, best take, macro focus, astrophotography, and Pro controls. Other features like magic editor, and expert vice processing, which allows you to add custom edits and studio quality enhancements will be available later with an OTA update. A new feature called Pixel’s Best Take combines similar photos into one picture.
On the software side of things, the Pixel 8 series is the first set of phones to run on Android 14. Powering the whole unit is a beefy 5050mAh battery on the inside, which supports 30W wired fast charging and wireless charging as well. The phone is rated to last 24 hours with a single charge. The Pixel 8 Pro also gets a new addition with the inclusion of the Thermometer. Other features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, IP68 rating, face unlock, 5G support, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.3.

Google Pixel 8: Specifications, Features
The smaller sibling, the Pixel 8 features a relatively compact 6.2-inch OLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and up to 120Hz screen refresh rate. The screen here is protected by the first-gen Victus glass. The device is powered by the same Tensor G3 chipset with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. In the camera department, the phone features a 12MP main and a 50MP wide-angle lens with a 10.5MP selfie shooter on the front.
Google’s Pixel 8 is backed by a 4,575mAh battery unit with support for 30W wired fast charging and there is also support for wireless charging. The device misses out on features like the thermometer, and pro controls on the camera, but the rest of the features remain the same across the duo.
