Google Pixel 8 Pro is speculated to feature the Samsung ISOCELL GN2 camera sensor as its primary lens. It is a 50MP camera lens, which was announced by the South Korean Giant two years back in 2021. The new leak comes courtesy of the noted tipster, Ice Universe. Notably, this is not the first time the camera sensor of the Pixel 8 Pro has been tipped. Back in December 2022, Kuba Wojciechowski also claimed that the Pixel 8 series smartphones will feature the GN2 sensor. read on ahead to know more about the latest leak.

The popular industry tipster, Ice Universe or @IceUniverse on Twitter claimed that the upcoming Pixel 8 Pro will feature the two-year-old Samsung ISOCELL GN2 primary camera lens on its rear. This sensor is a 50MP lens and an upgrade to Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro’s Samsung ISOCELL GN1 sensor. Samsung introduced the GN2 lens back in February 2021 with a heavy emphasis on the larger 2.8-micron pixel size using quad pixel-binning technology for great low-light imaging. The sensor also offers full-HD video recording at 480fps or 4K video at 120fps, and 8K video at 30fps.
The new leak corroborates Kuba Wojciechowski’s report in December 2022. Wojciechowski found mention of a new feature in the Google Camera Go app. He said that both Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will come with staggered HDR mode. Staggered HDR is similar to iPhone’s Smart HDR in the sense that it captures different exposures simultaneously with the same pixels and merges them to offer the best possible dynamic range and details. This feature is not available on the Pixel 7 series since the GN1 sensor doesn’t support it.
MySmartPrice exclusively revealed the case images and renders of the upcoming smartphones. The search engine giant is expected to showcase its next flagship series at the upcoming Google I/O 2023. The upcoming lineup is expected to feature some design changes over the last year’s Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro but not very significant. The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will continue to feature a camera visor with the dual and triple camera setup, respectively. The Pixel 8 Pro gets a wider pill-shaped cutout with all three sensors inside it, unlike the 7 Pro which had the third camera outside the pill cutout.
