Google, earlier this year, announced its latest mid-range offering – the Google Pixel 7a at Google I/O. The company is now gearing up for Google Pixel 8 series launch which is scheduled for October 4. Ahead of Google Pixel 8 series launch, the live images of the Google Pixel 8a, which is expected to launch sometime in 2025, have surfaced on the web, courtesy of tipster Abhishek Yadav.

The leaked live images reveal that the upcoming a-series smartphone from Pixel will be similar to its predecessor, in terms of design. However, one major difference that we are going to see on the Pixel 8a is that it will have more rounded corner, similar to the Pixel 8 series. Let us take a look at the Google Pixel 8a leaked live images and design.

The Google Pixel 8a leaked live images showcase the device in a Blue colour option. The Pixel 8a, codenamed akita, appears to have more rounded corners compared to the this year’s Pixel 7a. It appears that the Google Pixel 8a design will be inspired by the Pixel 8 series. To those unaware, Google has already unveiled the design of the Pixel 8 series smartphones.

The upcoming a-series smartphone from Google will feature a centered punch hole notch display. Similar to the Google Pixel 6a and Pixel 7a, the upcoming Pixel 8a will feature a visor-shaped camera module which will house a dual-rear camera setup.

The Pixel 8a leaked live images also showcase the left and the right edge of the device which confirm that the power buttons and volume rockers will reside along the right edge. The SIM-card tray will be located along the left edge, however.

Last month, the Google Pixel 8a, codenamed akita, made an appearance on the Geekbench benchmark database which revealed the presence of 8GB of RAM under the hood. The smartphone, as per benchmark listing, will come pre-loaded with Android 14. Google Pixel 8a Geekbench listing also confirmed that it will be equipped with an underclocked version of the Tensor G3 chipset which will bring with it an integrated Mali G715 GPU.

A few months back, Google Pixel device roadmap surfaced on the web, which claimed that Google may not release the Google Pixel 8a in 2024 and its fate will be decided based on how the Pixel 7a performs in terms of sales. It was also claimed that the company may go in favour of a two year launch cycle for its mid-range smartphones. However, the leaked images suggest that we might see a Google Pixel 8a in 2024.
