Google unveiled the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro smartphones on October 4. These devices are powered by Google’s Tensor G3 chipset and they support 30W wired fast charging. Both smartphones have a 120Hz refresh rate display and an in-display fingerprint sensor for the security purpose. Now, after the unveiling of the Pixel 8 lineup, it seems that Google is already working on the Pixel 8a smartphone. While the launch timeline of this device remains unknown, its renders have now surfaced courtesy of OnLeaks.

Google Pixel 8a To Feature 6.1-inch Display

As seen in the images, the Pixel 8a will have some minor changes compared to the Pixel 7a. The upcoming Pixel 8a smartphone will have a rounded corners. The device will have a punch-hole cutout at the centre which will accommodate the selfie camera. Dimensions-wise, the handset will measure 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9mm. The device will have a USB Type-C port and a stereo speaker at the bottom, while the top side will include an earpiece and antenna. The power and volume keys will be located on the right edge of the device, while the left side of the handset will consist of a SIM card slot.

The smartphone will feature a 6.1-inch flat-screen display. The rear of the device will include a dual-camera setup. The previous leak courtesy of the Geekbench listing suggests that the device will be powered by an underclocked variant of the Tensor G3 chipset. The smartphone might pack up to 8GB of RAM. The rest of the information about the handset such as camera configuration, and battery capacity details remains unknown currently. The upcoming Pixel 8a will arrive as a successor to the Pixel 7a which debuted back in May last year. To recall, the Pixel 7a features a 6.1-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The device has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and 429 PPI pixel density. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Tensor G2 chipset which is aided with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. As far as the other features of the device go, it has a 64MP dual-camera setup, a 13MP selfie camera, an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 4,385mAh battery, 18W wired fast charging and 7.5W wireless charging support.
