Pixel Fold Launched as Google’s First Foldable Smartphone With 7.6-inch OLED Display: Here Are Specifications and Price

Google has launched the Pixel Fold at I/O 2023. The Pixel Fold is Google’s first foldable smartphone and comes with some top of the line specs. It is a premium foldable phone and takes on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. However, the Pixel Fold will not be as widely available as the Samsung flagship foldable phone. The Pixel Fold’s foldable display has the same size as the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Google might launch its Pixel foldable phone in more regions later this year. While we wait for some more confirmation on that front, let’s take a look at the Google Pixel Fold specifications, price, features and other details announced at I/O 2023.

Google Pixel Fold: Price and Specifications

The Google Pixel Fold has been launched in the US in two storage options. The base model packs 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It is priced at $1799 (roughly Rs 147,400). There is also a 12GB + 512GB variant of the Pixel Fold, which is priced at $1919 (roughly Rs 1,57,300). The Pixel Fold has been launched in two colour options – Obsidian and Porcelain.

In terms of hardware, the Pixel Fold has a glass build and an aluminium frame. There is a 7.6-inch OLED foldable display with a resolution of 1820 x 2208-pixels. The foldable display has slightly thicker bezels at the top and bottom compared to the sides. This also means that the front camera is located on the top bezel, resulting in no cutouts on the foldable display. 

The inner display is claimed to have a peak brightness of 1450 nits. It has a 6:5 aspect ratio and offers support for a 120Hz refresh rate.

On the outside, there is a 5.8-inch 120Hz cover display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2092 pixels. It has a 17.4:9 aspect ratio and a hole-punch cutout for the front camera. The outer display is brighter at 1550 nits and comes with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

The Pixel Fold’s performance is taken care by a Tensor G2 SoC, which is also found in the Pixel 7 series and the newly-launched Pixel 7a. It comes with a Titan M2 security chip as well. The Pixel Fold supports 30W wired fast charging but you do not get an adapter in the box. Google claims that the Pixel Fold offers over 24 hours of battery life and even up to 72 hours worth of juice when in Extreme Battery Saver mode. The device reportedly packs a 4821mAh (rated) battery and weighs about 283 grams.

On the back, there is a triple-camera setup. The Pixel Fold features a 48MP main camera, which has a 1/2” sensor with an f/1.7 aperture. There is also a 10.8MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 121.1-degree field of view. Lastly, the phone has a 10.8MP telephoto camera with an f/3.05 aperture and support for 5x optical zoom. The Pixel Fold’s camera can shoot up to 20x Super Res Zoom, 4K 30fps videos and comes with many features, such as Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Night Sight, Real Tone, Long Exposure, etc.

The phone has two front cameras. The inner front camera has an 8MP sensor, whereas the cover display houses a 9.5MP sensor. The Pixel Fold runs Android 13 out of the box and offers a clean UI. It also comes with new features, such as dual-screen interpreter mode, Pixel Call Assist, Pixel Speech, Split-screen mode, Table-top mode, etc.
