Huawei has positioned itself pretty well in the mid-range and flagship segments. The Chinese manufacturer also made its EMUI stronger by adding features such as GPU Turbo. As the name denotes, this feature optimizes gaming performance without taking a toll on the battery during intense gaming sessions. Huawei introduced the feature back in June 2018, and since then it has pushed several incremental updates to make it better. Now, the OEM has announced GPU Turbo 3.0 bringing support for 19 Android games including Fortnite, FIFA Mobile, Real Racing 3, and others. It’s worth noting that the feature already supports titles like PUBG, Arena of Valor, and more since GPU Turbo 2.0.

Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.1 Brings GPU Turbo 3.0

Huawei adds the goodness of GPU Turbo 3.0 with its latest Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.1 firmware version. The company debuted the latest firmware with the launch of its new phones – Huawei P30 and P30 Pro. Huawei claims that GPU Turbo 3.0 reduces power consumption by 10% to offer “continuous gaming experience.” For now, GPU Turbo 3.0 is limited to the latest Huawei P30 phones, but we can expect the OEM to extend it to other Huawei and Honor phones via EMUI 9.1 update.

Here are all the Android games that have been added under compatibility chart of GPU Turbo – Fortnite, Crazy Taxi, Real Racing 3, Knives Out, Battle Bay, Into the Dead 2, NBA 2K19, Dragon Nest M, Duel Links, FIFA Mobile, PES2019, DRAGON BALL LEGENDS, Subway Surfers, Free Fire, Plants vs. Zombie Heroes, Minecraft, Helix, Brawl Stars, and Speed Drifters. The games that were already supported by GPU Turbo 2.0 version are PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena of Valor, NBA 2K18, Vainglory, and Rules of Survival.

The Power of GPU Turbo 3.0

Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology enables monitored energy consumption for neat gaming performance paired with speedy touch response. It also combats frame drop resulting in an increased average frame rate, except when it has been disabled by the user. You see, GPU Turbo comes with an option to be turned off by the user. In addition to its flagships, Huawei also made it available on budget phones from its sub-brand Honor – the Honor 9 Lite and Honor 7X.

Digging more into the GPU Turbo technology, Huawei and Honor phones boasting Neural Processing Unit (NPU) work better with the game-boosting feature in comparison to the ones that lack it. The GPU Turbo technology is sophisticated enough even to predict the system requirement for the next frame. As the OEM has already launched the EMUI 9.1 with GPU Turbo 3.0 version, we can expect that it makes other phones get the power of it soon.
