Reliance JioPhone Alternatives
As mentioned earlier, there are several JioPhone alternatives on the market currently. Earlier this year, Reliance Jio announced the JioPhone 2, which is currently being sold alongside the JioPhone. It shares a lot in common with the JioPhone but is priced significantly higher at INR 2,999. It features an identical 2.4-inch QVGA resolution display as the JioPhone and runs on a dual-core chipset. In the memory department, the JioPhone 2 offers the same 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. The only major difference between the two phones is the design. While the JioPhone sports a candybar design, the JioPhone 2 comes with a BlackBerry-inspired QWERTY keypad on the front with a 4-way navigation key.
HMD Global recently introduced the 8110 4G feature phone in India, which offers similar hardware specifications to the JioPhone. The feature phone is now on sale in the country for INR 5,999. It sports a marginally bigger 2.45-inch display with QVGA resolution and runs on a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 mobile processor. The Nokia 8110 4G is quite similar to the JioPhone in terms of software as well. Both phones run on the KaiOS platform, currently the second most popular mobile operating system in India. While the phone’s curved design is no doubt a lot more attractive than the JioPhone’s simple design, it certainly cannot justify its much higher price tag.
