It was just a day ago that we first reported the possibility of Honor launching its new smartphone the Honor 10 Lite here in India. Back then we did know that the handset would be showcased for the first time in India on January 8. What we did not know, however, was the official launch date for the handset. One day later, we can confirm that the Honor 10 Lite would be officially on sale starting January 15, 2019. And as you might be already aware, this handset happens to be a Flipkart exclusive (the only other place where you would be able to buy it from is Honor’s own online store). Anyway, this new snippet of information comes from a new landing page for the handset that recently went live on Flipkart. Unlike the previous page which only talked about Honor’s achievements in 2018, this one actually talks in detail about the new phone – which as you know – is the Honor 10 Lite.
Honor 10 Lite India Launch: What we know from the new Flipkart landing page
The new landing page for the Honor 10 Lite makes it amply clear that Honor is gunning for the selfie-crazy generation with this new handset. The very first feature that the landing page talks about is the 24-megapixel AI enabled front-facing camera that the phone boasts of. The page also mentions that the front cameras AI capability lets it recognize more than 200 scenarios spread across eight modes. In fact, there are a bunch of sample images in which selfies taken using the Honor 10 Lite is compared against selfies captured using other competing products.
The second major feature that the phone touts is the Kirin 710 chipset that the handset comes with. This, as you already know, is a mid-range chipset from HiSilicon and competes against the likes of the Snapdragon 6 series from Qualcomm and the Helio P60 from MediaTek. From what we could infer from the from the landing page, the handset would only be offered in a single version with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of internal storage. In China, however, the handset is also available in a 6GB RAM + 128GB avatar. This variant might not make it to India to keep the product competitive.
Honor 10 Lite: Other specifications
Other specifications of the handset include a waterdrop notch toting 6.21-inch IPS LCD panel in the 19.5:9 aspect ratio. This display also happens boast of a TUV Rheinland Certified eye-care mode. Typical of most Honor and Huawei phones, the Honor 10 Lite is also quite a looker thanks to its tall display and the fact that the front fascia is almost completely taken up by the display. The handset will be offered in three color options in India – all of them premium – and at least one of them boasting of Huawei’s now signature gradient back panel.
Connectivity-wise, you can expect the Honor 10 to feature support for Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.2, FM Radio, NFC, GPS, and 4G VoLTE. The phone also comes with a micro USB port for charging and data transfer. The Honor 10 Lite also gets a 3400 mAh battery and runs EMUI 9 atop an Android 9 Pie core. The new phone, as you now know, is set to be unveiled on January 8 and will go on sale starting January 15, 2019. The pricing of the handset should be around the INR 17 – 20k mark for it to sell in decent numbers.
