Honor has just launched a new budget smartphone in China, dubbed Honor 10 Lite aka Honor 10 Youth Edition. The smartphone is a cut-down variant of the Honor 10. Although the handset is officially released today, it’s been available for pre-order on JD.com and VMall in China, ahead of the launch. Ever since the renders got leaked, the Honor 10 Lite has been pitted against budget smartphones from Oppo, Xiaomi. In this blog post, we will be comparing the latest Honor smartphone to the Realme 2 Pro, and the company’s own Honor 8X. Let’s find out which one is worth buying.

Honor 10 Lite vs Honor 8X vs Realme 2 Pro: Price in India

The Honor 10 Lite with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage is available at CNY 1399, which roughly translates to INR 14,350. The storage variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB memory is priced at CNY 1699 (INR 17,459 approx.), while the model with the same RAM and 128GB onboard storage sells for CNY 1899 (INR 19,515 approx.).

The 4GB variant of the Honor 8X is priced at INR 14,999, while the 6GB variant sells for INR 16,999. The Realme 2, on the other hand, offers three RAM variants: 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB, costing INR 13,990, INR 15,990, INR 17,990, respectively.

The Honor 10 Lite features a small U-shaped notch, while the Realme 2 Pro boasts a proper waterdrop notch. The Honor 8X, however, settles for a regular display notch. As for the display specifications, the Honor 10 Lite sports a 6.21-inch display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. The Honor 8X sports a taller 6.5-inch display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

The Realme 2 Pro flaunts a glass and metal build featuring a 6.3-inch display with the same resolution as that of the Honor 8X and the Honor 10 Lite.

Under the hood, the Honor 10 Lite is powered by the Kirin 710 octa-core processor, combined with Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. The device gets up to 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. As for the Honor 8X, you will get the same set of processor and GPU combination, coupled with 4GB/6GB RAM. The Realme 2 Pro, on the other hand, brings a Snapdragon 660 chipset, combined with Adreno 512 GPU. If you look at the overall consistency, the Snapdragon 660 is a better processor. Also, the Realme 2 Pro gets up to 8GB of RAM, making it a clear winner in the hardware department.

In the imaging department, the Honor 10 Lite gets a 12MP + 12MP dual-camera setup at the rear, while the front of the device sports a powerful 24MP camera. In comparison, the Honor 8X offers a combination of 20MP + 2MP resolution for the back cameras, while the front camera is a 16MP shooter. The Realme 2 Pro offers an arrangement of 16MP + 2MP at the back, and a 16MP selfie snapper at the front.

The figures suggest that the Honor 10 Lite offers a better photography experience but we will be surer after testing the picture quality on our review unit.

Keeping the Honor 10 Lite system running is a 3320 mAh battery, while the Realme 2 Pro gets a 3500 mAh battery. Winning by a significant value, the Honor 8X boasts a 3750 mAh battery. Although all the three smartphones get a decent battery support, there are a number of smartphones out there featuring battery capacity batteries in a lower price range.

As for the software, the Honor 10 Lite runs the latest Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0 skin on top, while the Honor 8X ships with Android 8.1 (Oreo)-based EMUI 8.2. The Realme 2 Pro runs the Color OS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 (Oreo).

Although the software experience and the display specifications of the Honor 10 Lite are quite appealing, the Realme 2 Pro puts up a great fight. The Realme handset also gets an upper hand in the hardware department but lags by a hair in the optics. The Honor 8X gets all the modest features. Taking the overall performance into consideration, we declare the Realme 2 Pro as our winner.
