Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has launched a new mid-range smartphone called the Honor 20 Lite ahead of its scheduled official announcement on May 21. This launch, however, is a limited one with the device only going on sale in Malaysia as of now. As you might have already guessed, the Honor 20 Lite is the 2019 successor to last year’s Honor 10 Lite that sold in decent numbers in the Indian market. The Honor 20 Lite comes with a plethora of interesting specs that include a 32-megapixel selfie camera, an attractive design, and a very capable processor. Let us now take a look at the handset in detail.
Honor 20 Lite: Specifications, features
The launch of the Honor 20 Lite comes just 6 months after its predecessor was officially unveiled for the Indian market. Key specifications of the Honor 20 Lite include its processor which happens to be Huawei’s current mid-range workhorse, the HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC. The Kirin 710 is based on a 12nm manufacturing process and is an octa-core chipset with four Cortex-A73 and four Cortex-A53 cores, The graphics part is handled by the Mali G51 GPU. The chipset also supports up to 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM albeit, in the case of the Honor 20 Lite, only 4GB of RAM is available. The phone is a dual SIM capable handset that also gets a microSD card slot for expanding the storage even further. The display used on the Honor 20 Lite is a large 6.21-inch full HD+ IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels in the 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a PPI density of 415.
Honor 20 Lite: Camera, Software and Connectivity
The camera setup on the Honor 20 Lite includes a triple lens setup at the rear and a high-resolution front-facing camera. The primary rear camera uses a 24-megapixel sensor and is mated to an f/1.8 lens. The secondary camera uses an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.4 ultra-wide lens. The third 2-megapixel sensor is a depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The front-facing camera gets a 32-megapixel; sensor with f/2.0 aperture for great looking selfies. The handset runs Honor’s iteration of EMUI 9.0 which is based on Android 9 Pie. The phone also features a fingerprint sensor at the rear and supports face unlock as well. Connectivity features include Micro-USB 2.0, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
Honor 20 Lite: Price in India
While we will need to wait for the official India launch to happen before we can authoritatively talk about the price of this device, what we know is that in Malaysia, the device has been priced at around INR 15,900 mark. It is quite possible that Honor would keep the price of the Honor 20 Lite below the INR 15k mark in India. The phone will be sold in three color options; Phantom Red, Phantom Blue, and Midnight Blue.
