More than a year after the Honor 8A was first announced in China, the phone appears to have received a successor of sorts in the UK. According to a recent Twitter post by Roland Quandt of WinFuture, a popular german language tech blog, the successor to that phone is called the Honor 8A 2020. This ‘new’ handset was officially listed for sale in UK-based retailer Clove for a not too steep price tag of GBP 130. The website has also laid out the detailed specifications of the device.
A quick glance at the spec sheet, however, seems to indicate that what is being passed off as the 2020 edition of the Honor 8A, in fact, appears to be (almost) the same handset that was released in China over a year ago.

Let us take a closer look at the specifications of this handset now.
Honor 8A 2020 Specifications, Features
The Honor 8A 2020 comes powered by the MediaTek Helio P35 processor, which is the same SoC that was used on the original Honor 8A. The listing on Clove also confirms that the device ships with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The older Honor 8A model also had a similar variant. It is not clear of the 2020 edition of the phone has other storage/RAM options to choose from. The display used on the Honor 8A 2020 is also identical to its predecessor from last year. This is an LCD panel that measures 6.09-inches and has a resolution of 720 x 1560 pixels in the 19.5:9 aspect ratio (~282 PPI density).
Moving on to the imaging part, the Honor 8A gets a single 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with an f/1.8 aperture lens. At the front, the phone gets an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture. One area where the Honor 8A 2020 appears to receive an upgrade over the standard Honor 8A is the addition of a USB Type-C port. Contrary to some reports, the Honor 8A did have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and the 2020 model also gets the same. The phone also gets a 3020 mAh battery and runs EMUI 9 atop an Android 9 Pie core. The Honor 8A 2020 is sold in Blue and Black color options and has a price tag of around £130 in the UK.
