Honor today has launched a new budget smartphone in India, dubbed Honor 8C. The smartphone was launched in China last month. The Huawei sub-brand has a wide range of affordable smartphones, which are available for sale in India. This one goes on sale on December 10 at Amazon India website. In the meantime, let’s find out what the latest Honor 8C brings to the table that differentiates it in the budget market. The Honor 8C is launched in two storage variants: 4GB RAM + 32GB onboard storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB onboard storage. The first variant is priced at INR 11,999, while the latter sells for INR 12,999. The Realme U1 also comes in two memory configurations, where the 3GB + 32GB variant costs INR 11,999, while the 4GB + 64GB model sets you back by INR 14,999.

The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, on the other hand, offers three storage configurations: 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB onboard storage, and 6GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. The models cost INR 10,999, INR 12,999 and INR 14,999 respectively. The pricing details clearly tilt in favor of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.

The Honor 8C features a notched display and slim bezels that allows it to gain an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 88%. The smartphone sports a 6.26-inch display with a resolution of 720×1520 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The Realme U1 sports an even better display with a 6.3-inch Dewdrop screen that offers 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The screen-to-body ratio of the Realme U1 stands at 90.8%, which is again higher than that of the Honor 8C.

The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 gets a smaller 5.99-inch display 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9. When it comes to looks and feel, the Realme U1 races ahead of the other two handsets.

In terms of hardware, both the Honor and the Realme handsets get the brand new processors. The Honor 8C is the first device to be powered by a Snapdragon 632 octa-core processor. The hardware also includes Adreno 506 GPU for handling the graphics. On the other hand, the Realme U1 gets a MediaTek Helio P70 octa-core processor, combined with an ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. While this seems refreshing and appealing, neither Honor 8C nor Realme U1 beat Asus Max Pro M1 in terms of performance. The best selling Asus handset is loaded with a Snapdragon 636 chipset, coupled with an Adreno 509 GPU.

In the imaging department, both the Honor 8C and the Realme U1 sport 13MP + 2MP dual-camera setup at the back, while Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 gets a 13MP + 5MP configuration. On the front, the Honor 8C sports an 8MP snapper and so do the 4GB variants Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, while its 6GB variants boasts a 16MP selfie camera. The Realme U1 beats both devices with its powerful 25MP front-facing camera. Incidentally, Realme pitched the handset as a selfie-centric smartphone.

As for software, the Honor 8C runs Android 8.1 (Oreo)-based EMUI 8.2, while the Realme U1 ships with Android 8.1 Oreo OS with ColorOS 5.2 running on top. The Asus smartphone also runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) for software.

While the Honor 8C offers some decent specifications, the battle really comes down to the Realme U1 and Asus Zenfone Max Pro 1. However, the Asus smartphone has a better processor, a massive battery, an additional storage variant and reasonable pricing.
