Honor 8C Running Android Oreo Passes EEC Certification Just Ahead of the Official Launch

Huawei sub-brand Honor is soon expected to launch a successor to the Honor 7C Android smartphone in China. While the company is yet to officially confirm a launch date, latest reports suggest the smartphone will be made official in China on October 11. Ahead of its rumored launch date, the Honor 8C has been certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in Russia.

Honor 8C Receives EEC Certification

The EEC has certified the BKK-L21 variant of the Honor 8C, which will be variant of the smartphone headed to the Russian market. Apart from the model number of the certified device, the EEC listing only tells us that the smartphone runs on the Android 8 Oreo operating system. While the exact version is not specified in the listing, we expect the smartphone to ship with Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.1 out of the box.


Honor 8C Expected Specifications, Features

The Honor 8C has been listed for pre-booking on Chinese e-commerce platform VMall ahead of its official launch later this week. According to the listing, Honor 8C features a 6.26-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. Thanks to the notch design, the Honor 8C will boast an impressive 86.6% screen-to-body ratio, a significant improvement over the Honor 7C. One of the key highlights of the Honor 8C will be the chipset under the hood. The Honor 8C is expected to be the world’s first smartphone to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 632 octa-core processor. It will be available in two memory configurations in China – 4GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. The smartphone will also include a dedicated microSD card slot for further expansion up to 256GB. In the camera department, Honor 8C sports a 13MP dual-camera setup at the rear with the primary sensor coupled with a large f/1.8 aperture. For selfies and video calls, the smartphone will have an 8MP snapper on the front.  In terms of battery life, the Honor 8C is expected to be an impressive performer, all thanks to a large 4000mAh capacity battery. It will also include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
