Honor 9X with 6.59-inch LCD Display, 16MP Popup Selfie Camera Launched in India: Price, Features

Huawei’s popular sub-brand Honor, earlier today, launched a new handset in India called the Honor 9X. The official successor to the Honor 8X from 2018, the launch of this phone was delayed significantly because of the ongoing trade war between the US and China. The ‘original’ Honor 9X was announced way back in July 2019 in its home market China. The Indian (and international) versions, however, have slightly different hardware specs. This variant was first talked about in October 2019 before officially coming to India in January 2020. Anyway, now that the phone has been officially launched, let’s take a detailed look at the device.

Honor 9X Price in India, Variants, Offers

The Honor 9X comes in two versions in India — a base level 4GB+128GB version priced at INR 13,999 and a pricier 6GB+128GB variant that costs INR 16,999. Both these versions shall be on sale starting January 19, 2020, and shall be sold via Flipkart. On the first day of the sale, users can avail an extra INR 1000 discount and get the base variant of the Honor 9X for INR 12,999. Customers who have ICICI or Kotak Mahindra cards can avail an additional 10 percent off. Jio also offers Honor 9X users INR 2,200 worth of cashback.

Honor 9X Specifications

The Honor 9X is a budget handset that comes powered by Huawei’s own HiSilicon Kirin 710F processor. Apart from being a relatively older chip, the Indian version of the Honor 9X is different from its Chinese sibling in that this one uses the Kirin 710F chipset in place of the newer Kirin 810 SoC that the Chinese unit gets. In fact, the 710F is the same chipset that was used on the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 that was launched back in August 2019 as well as the older Honor 8X from 2018. The Kirin 710F is fairly powerful but cannot match up to the newer chips from Qualcomm that several handsets in the same price bracket sport. The graphics are handled by the ARM MALI G51 MP4 GPU. Both the variants of the Honor 9X gets a microSD card slot for memory expansion. As the case usually is with phones in this price range, the Honor 9X supports 4G VoLTE networks. There are other connectivity options as well that include Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0 LE, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C. The phone gets a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Honor 9X: Camera, Software and Battery

The Honor 9X’s display measures 6.59-inches across and is an LCD panel with FHD+ resolution in the 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone gets a capable triple camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel secondary ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front-facing camera uses a 16-megapixel sensor that is housed under a pop-up mechanism. The Honor 9X gets a decent-sized 4,000 mAh battery under the hood. At launch, the handset runs EMUI 9 atop an Android 9 Pie core. Honor also launched the Honor Magic Watch 2 and introduced the Honor Magic laptop lineup in the country on the same day they launched the Honor 9X in India.
