Huawei’s sub-brand, Honor, has been teasing a new phone that reminds us of Oppo’s Find X smartphone that comes with a sliding camera setup. Yes, we are talking about the Honor Magic 2 that has surfaced on the internet several times in the past few weeks. Although, the company first teased the phone at an event, it is now nearing its launch. It will go official in China on October 31, 2018. Now, before the launch, a new teaser video has surfaced about the Honor Magic 2, which shows the phone in its full glory. And of course, we get to see the sliding camera setup in action.
Honor Magic 2 Sliding Camera Setup Shown in Teaser Video
The teaser video posted by the company shows the sliding camera mechanism and the design of Honor Magic 2. It does work exactly like the camera setup on Oppo’s Find X smartphone. Just like the Find X, the slider on the Honor Magic 2 also seems to include front and rear camera lenses. With the slider design, the Honor Magic 2 ditches the notch trend that allows it to attain near 100 percent screen-to-body ratio. But that’s what the company is claiming, we still got to see the phone closely to judge whether it has the screen-to-body ratio, as claimed by the company. You can check out the teaser video here.
Additionally, the teaser video also reveals the rear panel of the device that house dual-camera setup on the top-left. The camera setup has been done vertically and is stacked with an LED flash too. The Honor Magic 2 is also expected to come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Going by some of the recent reports, Honor will also be introducing graphene technology for heat dissipation.
What to Expect in Honor Magic 2 and How Close Does it Come to the Oppo Find X
Huawei has already confirmed some of the features of the upcoming Honor Magic 2. As of now, we know that the phone is poised to come powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 980 chipset. On the display front, the phone will be featuring almost 100 percent screen-to-body ratio. Another feature that we know is that the phone will pack support for 40W ‘Magic Charge’ technology. As for the other things to expect from the Honor Magic 2, Honor’s president Zhao Ming hinted that the phone would feature AI-based features for easing the user experience.
Some of the previous reports about the Honor Magic 2 revealed that the device might boast a 6-inch AMOLED display with 2880×1440 pixels resolution. The phone may pack 6GB of RAM and run Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.2. It is expected to come with a slew of AI-based features for camera and other functions.
As for its competition with the Oppo Find X, we must say that the camera mechanism is almost the same on both the devices.
