Huawei has announced Android 9 beta testing program for a series of its recently launched smartphones as well as devices from last year. The Chinese smartphone maker did not participate in the program when it was initially launched in May, this year. Instead, the company waited for the stable OS to come out and started upgrading its devices beginning last month. As of now, Huawei has contributed the most to the list of devices trying out the Android 9 Beta Program.
Huawei Mobiles Joining the Android 9 Pie Beta Program
If you happen to own any of the smartphones from Huawei Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro, Mate 9 Porsche Design, P10, P10 Plus, Honor Note 10, Honor 9, Honor V9, Nova 3, Nova 2S, you can join the beta testing program and become the early adopter, ahead of a majority. Additionally, if you have any of the three variants of the MediaPad M5 tablet, you can experience the new OS on your device and report bugs, if you find any. Since the software is unstable, you will come across plenty of bugs and issues, but you will get a neat idea of what to expect from the stable release. Note that the Android 9 beta update comes with the EMUI 9 proprietary skin. In order to experience the new EMUI 9 beta update on your eligible Huawei device, you will need to install a specific version for it. You can check out the version for your device on the official company website.
Huawei has set limited time slots for all of its devices joining the ongoing beta testing program, which gives it time to get it all together, in case something goes wrong. Note that the initial update for the above-mentioned devices is limited to the Chinese market. But we are hopeful that the company will expand the program to other markets soon. To recall, the company announced the beta upgrade for Huawei Mate 10, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Pro, Honor 10, Honor View 10, Honor Play in China earlier. It is now available for the European market as well.

Huawei is a little late to join the bandwagon, as a lot of smartphone makers have already released Global Stable updates based on Android 9 Pie. Recently, Xiaomi released the Global Stable update for the Mi MIX 2S, which is based on Android 9 Pie. This makes the MIX 2S the first smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker to receive the stable version of the MIUI 10 update which is based on the latest OS. The OnePlus flagship OnePlus 6 is also running the stable Android 9 Pie based update. We are expecting a wide range of smartphones from popular OEMs to switch to the stable update soon.
