Honor Play 8C Specifications
The Honor Play 8C succeeds the Honor 7C, which was released last year. Needless to mention, the Honor smartphone is a budget offering from the company. As is the norm with several Chinese smartphone companies, the Honor Play 8C will first sell predominantly in China. However, we expect the smartphone will arrive in India in the next few weeks.
Being a budget smartphone, the Honor Play 8C doesn’t feature flagship specifications. However, it still manages to offer a lot of value for money. The smartphone features a 6.26 inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x1520 pixels, and 19:9 aspect ratio. The Android handset sports a beautiful 3D nano-level glare texture design. There’s also a notch which helps boost the screen to body ratio to 86.6 percent.
A capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz is paired with Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB RAM. The internal storage varies between 32GB and 64GB. The onboard memory can be boosted to up to 256GB via micro-SD card.
The Honor Play 8C sports a dual-rear camera setup of 13MP+2MP and a front-facing selfie shooter of 8MP. Both the camera units benefit from LED flash. A rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, a large 4,000mAh battery, and 3.5mm headphone jack, sums up the highlights. The smartphone runs on EMUI 8.2 that’s based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
Honor Play 8C Features
Product testing and certification entity, TÜV Rheinland, has certified the Honor Play 8C as an eye-protecting device. The smartphone can effectively filter the harmful blue light that causes eye fatigue. It also features adaptive color temperature adjustment that reduces the damage to the eyes caused by long-term use of smartphones.
The large 4,000mAh battery is claimed to deliver 50 hours of talk time, 12.5 hours of online video streaming and 11.1 hours of intense gaming.
Honor Play 8C Pricing, Availability
The Honor Play 8C 4GB/32GB variant costs CNY 1,099 (Rs. 11,800 approx.). The 4GB/64GB variant is a priced slightly higher at CNY 1,399 (Rs. 15,000 approx.). All the four color options sport the same price as per the RAM and internal memory.
Honor hasn’t yet confirmed if the smartphone will sell outside China. However, we at MSP Gear expect the company will launch the budget Android smartphone in India soon. Moreover, we feel Honor will retain the pricing structure. If the Honor Play 8C launches at the attractive price, it will challenge Xiaomi Redmi 6 Series, Oppo’s Realme Series, and similarly priced smartphones that are popular in India.
