Huawei has now pushed a major update to its Honor Play and Honor Note 10 smartphones in China. The latest software upgrade brings with it support for fingerprint-based WeChat payments. Additionally, the new built of Huawei’s proprietary EMUI interface comes with full-screen gesture compatibility. Currently, Huawei is gradually pushing the update to a section of its user base, and the complete rollout can be expected to end by the end of this month.
Huawei’s Latest EMUI Update Brings Along Support for WeChat Fingerprint Payments
Alongside the Honor Note 10 and Honor Play, a few other smartphones including the Honor 10, Honor V10, Honor 9 Youth Edition and Honor Play 7X will soon be getting the all-new update. The update will be rolling out to these devices by the end of October. The addition of the new fingerprint-based payment support in the latest EMUI update comes as a boon for a number of Huawei users. It will enable them not only to make payments at the click of a button but also very securely.
Huawei claims to have co-operated with WeChat to develop this new feature in its latest software update. According to the company, the payment feature includes in their smartphone is different from that found in competing for Android smartphones, especially, in terms of security. Unlike on other Android phones where your payment details are stored in an online platform, the vital information in case of the Huawei is stored directly on the smartphone itself. The banking data is stored in an encrypted format within the system memory and isn’t shared with any third-party organisation. Furthermore, Huawei claims that its all-new payment system is the first in the country to pass CC EAL Safety Certification Scheme which apparently is the highest security certification in China.
In addition to the inclusion of fingerprint-based WeChat payment support, Huawei has included new full-screen gestures in its latest built of EMUI. This will enable users to control various functions of their Honor smartphones at the swipe of a finger.
Honor Note 10: Key Specifications
The Honor Note 10 features a humongous 6.95 inch Full HD+ (2,220 x 1,080p) Super AMOLED display. It is powered by a Hi-Silicon Kirin 970 octa-core processor and a Mali G72 MP12 GPU. Additionally, the smartphone features up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The rear of the smartphone features a dual camera setup. The unit comprises a 16MP f/1.8 primary and a 24MP f/1.8 secondary sensor. Among them, the second one is capable of shooting only in B/W mode and features a Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) sensor. Other key features of the Honor Note 10 include a 5000mAh battery, 13MP f/2.0 selfie snapper, and Dolby Atmos surround sound.

On the other hand, the Honor Play smartphone was released earlier this year in August. It’s the company’s latest mid-range offering and comes with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (2,340 x 1,080p) IPS LCD display. Underneath the hood, the smartphone is powered by the same Kirin 970 processor that also found inside the Honor Note 10. In addition to it, the Honor Play features up to 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. There’s also a dual rear camera setup comprising a 16MP f/2.2 primary and 2MP f/2.4 secondary sensor. Besides, the smartphone also packs a 16MP f/2.0 selfie shooter. The rest of the specifications of the Honor 10 Play include a 3750mAH battery, rear mounted Fingerprint sensor, USB Type C and a Hybrid Dual SIM slot.
