The Honor View 20 is receiving a new software update in India. This update comes bearing the build number 9.0.1.129 (C675E8R1P4). According to the changelog, the software update brings with it support for ViLTE, enhanced video call performance, improved electronic video stabilization and improved color reproduction in portrait mode when using rear camera, optimized touchscreen sensitivity, and Google’s February security patch.
What is ViLTE and Why Should I Care?
ViLTE is an acronym for Video over LTE, and this feature adds native video call support (using the 4G network) to your device. In simpler terms, with ViLTE, you can video call a mobile number without the need for a third-party application like Google Duo, WhatsApp, Messenger, etcetera. If your smartphone has ViLTE, you can just open your native phone application, and make a video call to another mobile number (provided that the person has ViLTE too). As the ViLTE eliminates the need for a third-party application, it theoretically should save battery power when you are making a video call. Currently, in India, only Jio network has ViLTE support, and the carrier offers this service free of cost with all its recharge plans.
