HP Announces 2022 EliteBook, ProBook Laptops with AMD Ryzen 6000, 5000 Pro CPUs: All Details Here

The HP EliteBook range offers the AMD Ryzen 6000 CPUs in the premium models, while the rest of the 2022 laptops run on Ryzen 5000 series CPUs.


HP has announced the launch of its 2022 range of EliteBook and ProBook laptops, ahead of the official days of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022. The new range offers AMD CPUs, and have been announced shortly after AMD itself showcased its Ryzen 6000 series CPUs for laptops. The newly announced laptops include two tiers of the HP EliteBook portfolio, featuring both the AMD Ryzen 6000 and Ryzen 5000 Pro CPUs, and new ProBook laptops based on the latter as well.

HP EliteBook 645 G9, 655 G9

Starting with the mainstream EliteBook range, the new laptops are powered by AMD Ryzen 5000 Pro series CPUs, along with up to 64GB DDR4 RAM and 1.5TB SSD storage. The two laptops in this segment, the EliteBook 649 G9 and EliteBook 655, feature 16:9 standard aspect ratio displays, which can be configured in both HD (1366 x 768) and full HD (1920 x 1080) resolutions. There are two battery options — a 42.75Whr one and a 51.3Whr one, both of which support HP Fast Charge.

All the laptops feature HD webcams, with optional configurations offering Windows Hello support through face recognition as well as fingerprint. Both offer USB-C 4.0 ports, two USB-A ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, an Ethernet port, a card reader, NFC support and an optional SIM slot in specific SKUs. The EliteBook 645 G9 weighs 1.37kg, while the EliteBook 655 weighs 1.74kg. India prices are yet to be announced, while global prices start at $1,149 (approx. Rs 85,000).

EliteBook 835 G9, 845 G9, 865 G9

In the more premium range, the HP EliteBook 835 G9, 845 G9 and 865 G9 laptops feature AMD Ryzen 6000 series CPUs. The 835 features 16GB of DDR5 non-upgradable RAM, while the other two offer 64GB of DDR5 RAM that is also user-upgradable. The laptops also offer 2TB SSD based storage. All the displays offer 16:10 aspect ratios and full HD+ resolution, along with HP’s proprietary ‘SureView Reflect’ privacy screen layer on top. The sizes are 13-inch for the EliteBook 835 G9, 14-inch for the 845 and 16-inch for the 865.

The laptops also come with new, 5MP webcams with auto framing for improved video conferencing. In terms of ports, the laptops offer two USB-A, two USB-C 4.0, one HDMI 2.0, one audio port, and optional SKUs with SIM slot, NFC, smart card reader, IR camera for Windows Hello and fingerprint sensor as well. The EliteBook 835 G9, 845 G9 and 865 G9 weigh 1.27kg, 1.36kg and 1.9kg respectively, and are powered by 38Whr or 21Whr batteries on the first two, and 51Whr and 76Whr batteries on the 16-inch one.

ProBook 435 x360, 445, 455

The HP ProBook 435 x360, 445 and 455 all feature AMD Ryzen 5000 Pro CPUs. All the laptops offer up to 32GB DDR4 memory. In storage, the 435 x360 offers a 2TB SSD, while the other two offer 1TB SSD and a 256GB HDD for the same. All the displays offer full HD resolution, and offer SKUs with 13.3-inch, 14-inch and 15.6-inch screen sizes. All the laptops offer touchscreen support, with it being optional on the latter two.

The new, 5MP webcam is available in the ProBook 435 x360. Ports include a standard range of one USB-C, one USB-A, one HDMI 2.0, one microSD card reader and one audio jack. The laptops offer 42Whr on the 435, and 42.75Whr/51Whr on 445 and 455. The laptops weigh 1.45kg, 1.37kg and 1.74kg, respectively.
