Huawei M Series Tablet With M-Pen Support to Soon Launch in India

Our reliable source, Ishan Agarwal, has revealed that Huawei will soon launch an M-series tablet in India. The image of the tablet he shared suggests that it is the MediaPad M5 Lite that has already made its debut in many markets outside India. There is also a possibility that the brand will launch more than one M-series tablet. Anyway, since the MediaPad M5 Lite is already out, we know its specifications. So why don’t we check out what the device has to offer? Also, while we are at it, let us discuss what the device could cost in India.

Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite Specifications

The Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite features a 10.1-inch IPS LCD with Full HD+ resolution, offering a 224 PPI pixel density. Going by the images of the tablet, the screen seems to have fairly thin bezels. Tablets, in general, don’t focus much on imaging capabilities. The MediaPad M5 Lite is no different. The device has an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and an 8MP front-facing camera with fixed focus. Both of them can do Full HD video recording.

Powering the MediaPad M5 Lite is the Kirin 659 SoC. And this is something that will bother many consumers. The Kirin 659 chipset is quite outdated now, and it might not offer performance as good the new generation chipsets like the Kirin 810. What’s even disappointing is that the tablet ships with Android 8.0 Oreo OS. Seriously Huawei? Android 10 is about to hit markets, and you guys plan to launch a tablet with two years old OS? I am sure that the software part will inevitably impact sales figures. Anyway, the MediaPad M5 Lite is available in two memory configurations internationally – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage.

Keeping the tablet running is a 7500mAh battery unit that supports 18W charging. The tablet ships with 18W charger in a few markets. In India, however, the brand might ship the device with a 10W charger to keep the costs low. When it comes to connectivity, the MediaPad M5 Lite has a cellular option with 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v4.2, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

What Could Be the Price of MediaPad M5 Lite?

The MediaPad M5 Lite costs CNY 1,999 for the base variant in China. And that converts to around INR 20,000. In India, however, the MediaPad M5 Lite could be priced at a premium of INR 3,000 to account for shipping, import duties, and taxes.
