Huawei Maimang 7: Specifications, Features
The new Huawei Maimang 7 sports a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and a 409 PPI pixel density. Thanks to the notch at the top of the display, the Maimang 7 boasts a screen-to-body ratio of 81 percent; a decent improvement compared to its predecessor. The mid-range Android smartphone runs on HiSilicon’s Kirin 710 mid-range mobile chipset clocked at up to 2.2 GHz with a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. The 12nm processor offers significantly improved performance as well as efficiency when compared to the Kirin 659 chipset, which was manufactured on a 16nm node. To help improve the gaming experience, Maimang 7 features Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology as well. Huawei has coupled the octa-core Kirin 710 processor with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. The smartphone comes with a Hybrid Dual-SIM configuration, which means users can choose to expand the storage further by up to 256GB with a microSD card.
In the camera department, Huawei Maimang 7 features 20MP + 2MP dual rear cameras at the rear and a 24MP + 2MP dual-camera setup on the front. The 20MP primary sensor at the rear comes with phase-detection autofocus and an f/1.8 aperture. Like other Huawei smartphones released recently, the Maimang 7 offers many AI-powered camera features like intelligent scene recognition, portrait mode, smart photo composition guide, and more. The dual selfie cameras on the front come with an AI portrait mode as well as support for the Face Unlock feature for quick access.
Moving on to connectivity, the Huawei Maimang 7 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, NFC, USB Type-C, and Dual 4G VoLTE. Keeping the lights on is a 3750mAh capacity non-removable battery with support for fast charging. The smartphone measures 158.3 x 75.3 x 7.6mm and weighs 172 grams. In terms of software, the Maimang 7 runs on the latest EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. We expect the smartphone to receive an update to Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9 by the end of this year or early next year.
Huawei Maimang 7: Expected Price in India, Launch Date
So far, Huawei has not launched its Mate series smartphones in the Indian market. However, the company has significantly increased its focus on India this year, so there is a small chance that the Maimang 7 or Mate 20 Lite might be launched in India in the coming weeks. Going by its hardware specifications, we expect the Mate 20 Lite to be priced in India somewhere around the Rs.20,000 mark in the country. The rest of the Mate 20 series might also land in India before the end of the year.
