The upcoming Huawei Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro smartphones have been appearing regularly in leaks, reports and even videos. However, despite the onslaught of information, the latest leak about the smartphones, offers some startling details and mentions some industry-first features.

Huawei confirmed the existence of its upcoming flagship smartphones, the Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro a while back. However the Chinese smartphone giant refrained from mentioning all the details about the specifications and features of the premium Android smartphones. This left smartphone enthusiasts to rely on leaks, reports and videos to gather any relevant information about these high-end devices. There have been a number of such alleged reports that surfaced with regularity which offered several details.

Still, the latest leak indicates Huawei has embedded several high-end features, and some that have never been seen before being used in commercial mobile handsets. The Huawei Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro could officially launch on October 16. However, just ahead of the launch, a rather expansive and detailed leak has revealed some cutting-edge and innovative features that the upcoming premium flagship Android smartphones will have.

Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro: Voice Unlock, SuperCharge 2.0, Nano-SD Cards

An Israeli publication G-Rafa has shared some highly interesting promotional posters that allegedly reveal the Huawei Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro. These posters claim the Huawei Mate 20 will have 4,000mAh battery, and the Mate 20 Pro will have a slightly larger 4,200mAh battery. Moreover, these smartphones will have Huawei’s SuperCharge 2.0 feature. The poster proclaims the Fast Charging technology can charge the battery up to 70 percent in only 30 minutes. Interestingly, the Huawei handsets will also support high-speed 15W wireless charging as well.

The Huawei Mate 20 will have a standard fingerprint scanner on the back, but the Mate 20 Pro will have an in-display scanner. However, the Mate 20 Pro will also pack two additional security features. There will be an ultra-fast iPhone-like Face Unlock feature. But there’s also a unique ‘Bone Voice ID’ that will authenticate the users with the voice. Apparently, the smartphone will memorize the vocal and speech pattern and use it to for authentication.

The third industry-first feature is the support for nano-SD cards of up to 256GB. Apparently a nano-SD card is a miniaturized version of the micro-SD card. These memory modules look quite similar to a nano SIM cards. There’s also a mention of wireless screen projection, which might be a way to project the smartphone’s screen onto a larger surface.

According to the previous leaks, the Huawei Mate 20 will feature a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone could have 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage for the base variant.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is obviously the elder brother of the Mate 20 smartphone. The device will probably have a 6.3-inch curved OLED display with a QHD+ resolution. It will also have more memory than the Mate 20. It may pack as much as 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage. The handset will have an IP68 rating as well as a slightly larger 4,200mAh battery.

Both the Huawei flagship smartphones will have the HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC clocked at 2.6GHz. The next-gen flagship chipset will be made on the 7nm fabrication process. It promises substantial bump in processing power, battery endurance and of course, speed. The other most prominent feature is the presence of a triple camera setup. The camera unit will have 40MP + 16MP + 8MP dual rear camera lenses. There will be a large 24MP front-facing camera on the flagship Huawei smartphones.
