
A new Huawei tablet has made its debut in China today – the MatePad Pro. It is the same tablet that was leaked a weeks ago on the internet. The MatePad Pro comes as the flagship tablet from the brand, featuring high-end hardware. The Huawei MatePad Pro has a punch-hole display, making it the first tablet to feature this kind of screen. Huawei MatePad Pro: Price, Availability
The Huawei MatePad Pro comes in two memory configurations – 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. The one with 6GB of RAM costs CNY 3,299 and the one with 8GB of RAM costs CNY 4,299. There is also an LTE version. It has 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, just like the base variant, and it costs CNY 3,799. Huawei isn’t offering an LTE variant of the 8GB + 256GB variant, yet.
Pre-orders of the Huawei MatePad Pro begin today. And the device is set to go on sale starting December 12. The brand hasn’t announced the availability details of the MatePad Pro for markets outside China. It is worth mentioning that Huawei has announced that it is working on a 5G variant of the tablet, and the brand might launch it in Q1 2020.
Huawei MatePad Pro: Specifications
The Huawei MatePad Pro comes with a 10.8-inch AMOLED screen featuring QHD+ resolution. The display has a 16:10 aspect ratio. As I said earlier, there is a punch-hole on the left aligned to the top-right corner of the screen. According to Huawei, bezels around the display are just 4.9mm thick, giving the device a screen to body ratio of more than 90%. The device comes with an M-Pen Stylus for enhanced productivity.
Powering the MatePad Pro is the Kirin 990 SoC. The tablet runs on Android 10 operating system with EMUI 10 customization. The brand has customized the OS to suit the tablet interface. You can use two apps side by side, just like that on a PC, on the MatePad Pro. Unfortunately, the device doesn’t offer Google Mobile Service suite due to the ongoing US-China trade war.
In terms of imaging, the MatePad Pro has a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. The MatePad Pro packs a 7,250mAh battery. It supports 40W SuperCharge fast charging, 15W fast wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging. The tablet measures 159 x 245 x 7.2mm, and it weighs 460 grams.
