A few days ago, 91Mobiles, in collaboration with Evan Blass, revealed render images of a tablet claiming that it is the upcoming Huawei MediaPad M7. Well, Evan Blass now claims that the tablet shown earlier will actually be called the Huawei MatePad Pro.
To recall, the renders revealed by 91Mobiles show that the MatePad Pro will have a punch-hole display, making it the first tablet to feature one. Thanks to the punch-hole display, the tablet has thin bezels around the display. Speaking of, the MatePad Pro seems to have an in-display fingerprint scanner, since there is no sign of a fingerprint scanner on the device. And I am sure the brand wouldn’t launch a tablet that does not have a biometric authentication feature. Unfortunately, the display size and display type are currently unknown. If the renders are to be believed, the MatePad Pro has a dual-camera setup at the rear accompanied by an LED flash.
The renders reveal that the MatePad Pro has a USB Type-C port and two speaker grills at the bottom. There also seems to be a custom-designed, magnetic connector on the right-hand side of the tablet, for mounting an external keyboard. The external keyboard will help in boosting the productivity on the device. Speaking of, these renders also reveal that the MatePad Pro will come with a stylus, which will make the tablet even more useful. Going by the renders, the stylus does not have a dedicated port. Instead, it sticks to the side of the tablet. Unfortunately, that’s all the information there is at the moment.
Going by the design and naming convention, the MatePad Pro might most probably be a high-end offering. And you can expect it feature flagship-grade hardware, such as Kirin 980/Kirin 990 SoC, RAM capacity of 8GB and above, storage modules ranging from 128GB to 512GB, an OLED display with QHD+ resolution, and a metal unibody. That being said, we can’t say anything for sure until we get a hold of more leaks. The launch date of the tablet is currently unknown. However, considering that it has been only four months since Huawei launched its flagship tablet, the MediaPad M6, I think the brand will not launch the MatePad Pro anytime soon.
