Huawei Nova 3i Gets Super Night Mode Feature

A new update has been released for the Huawei Nova 3i which installs as EMUI 8.2.0.131 for India units. It is an OTA update that also brings Android security patch for October. As we mentioned above, the update brings AIS Super Night Mode feature to the camera app, which will help them in taking great low-light shots. We can call it one of the most awaited features.

The OTA update weighs around 700MB has been first spotted on the Nova 3i INE-LX2 model. The Nova 3i users in India should expect the update to arrive for them soon. They can also check for it manually by heading to Settings > About Phone > Check for Update.

How Does the Super Night Mode Works?

The AIS Super Night Mode uses powerful AI algorithms and the fast processing power of the Kirin 970 chipset. The AI chipset detects shakes when clicking pictures. The AI system is based on data and analysis from different types of techniques used by different photographers with tripods. Huawei’s AI algorithm include machine learning logic that is built on these techniques, the Kirin 970 automatically detects when the Super Night mode is needed for taking a shot and uses its tools to click a better picture. This mode enables users to take night shots without the need of a tripod.

The Super Night mode also includes AI photometric measurement system that controls how much light camera should take. Once the user taps on the shutter button, the AI gets to work and sets the exposure and frames based on the lighting conditions of the preview image, handheld jitters, and more.

After capturing all the frames from the night shot captured by the user, they are processed into a single image. Night shots often come out blurry due to the lag in the processing of frames into one picture. To make sure images are not affected by this, Huawei’s Super Night mode uses the AI to clear bad frames before the process begins. This way, it automatically aligns all the right frames to form a single image. The Kirin 970 chip detects feature points in every frame and then matches and aligns them to create a clean image.

Image Synthesis For Clearer Shots

The Super Night mode uses image synthesis as the final tool. It has customized algorithms integrated into the AI system to enhance short-exposure frames in bright areas to keep overexposure at bay. Long-exposure frames are placed in dark areas for retaining details. It also detects frames and repairs to ensure that picture comes out sharp even around the edges. The AI also uses noise reduction on frames that improves signal-to-noise ratio ensuring clear, clean, and bright night shot.

If you have a Huawei Nova 3i phone then you should keep an eye on this update. Download and install the OTA updates as soon as you get the notification so that you can make use of the Super Night mode feature in the camera app.
