Huawei recently launched its first smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera, dubbed P Smart Z. The smartphone is currently on sale in Italy and is soon expected to be available in Spain.  A report published by 91Mobiles has now claimed that the Huawei P Smart Z may be launched in the Indian market soon.

The folks over at 91Mobiles claim to have heard from a trusted industry source that the Huawei P Smart Z will be arriving in India soon. Unfortunately, the report does not mention a specific timeframe regarding the launch. We may have to wait a few more weeks for more details to surface online. The P Smart Z is expected to be priced at somewhere around INR 20,000 in the Indian market. In Italy, where the smartphone is available online via Amazon Italy, it is priced at EUR 279 (INR 21,900 approx.). Huawei P Smart Z’s main rivals in the Indian market will be the Vivo V15 and OPPO F11 Pro. The Vivo V15 is priced at INR 21,990 in India, while the OPPO F11 Pro costs INR 23,990.

The mid-range Huawei P Smart Z offers a 6.59” notch-less IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ resolution and a tall 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Powering Huawei’s first smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera is HiSilicon’s 12nm Kirin 710F octa-core SoC with a 2.2 GHz clock speed and a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. The octa-core chipset is clubbed with 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable onboard storage.

The smartphone has a 16MP + 2MP dual-camera setup on the back, with the primary sensor paired with an f/1.8 aperture lens. On the other hand, the secondary 2MP depth sensor is coupled with an f/2.4 aperture. As mentioned earlier, one of the major highlights of the P Smart Z is its motorized pop-up selfie camera mechanism. It uses a 16MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and support for the Face Unlock feature. Huawei claims the pop-up camera mechanism has been tested over 100,000 times and is capable of withstanding up to 12kg of force.

Huawei P Smart Z packs a large non-removable 4000mAh capacity battery, although it is yet to be ascertained if the smartphone comes with fast charging support. Some of the other key features of the P Smart Z include a USB Type-C port and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone runs on Huawei’s latest EMUI 9.0 version based on the Android 9 Pie operating system.
