Huawei P30, 2019 Apple iPhone Xl with Triple Rear Camera Setup Showed Off in Leaked Renders

142023

A set of new leaks show that the upcoming flagship smartphones, the Huawei P30 and the Apple iPhone Xl, will indeed come equipped with triple-camera setups but in very different setups.

The Huawei P30’s leaked renders reveal a vertical triple rear camera setup, pretty much like that of the Huawei P20 Pro. On the other hand, Apple seems to be taking on a brand new design strategy with its iPhone Xl that will hopefully come in September this year. We also learn that Apple plans to stick to the three-model line-up: a cost-effective model, a standard flagship device, and a Plus or Max variant.

Apple iPhone Xl Renders Show Entirely New Design

Although the leaked renders show that Apple is sticking to a glass back for its next set of iPhones, there is an entirely new design element in the form of a triple rear camera housed in a square-shaped camera unit. The iPhone X, XS and the XS Max all came with a similar dual-camera setup where the sensors were aligned vertically on the top-left corner of the glass back, but the new iPhone Xl renders show a square unit with three sensors and a flash, somewhat resembling the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

However, the sensor setup is rather unique and original, with two vertically aligned sensors on the left, and one placed between them but on the right side, below the LED flash. The camera unit bump looks quite large, and it remains to be seen whether or not Apple will finalize this design as is. For now, the new iPhones are still at the Engineering Validation Test (EVT) level, so there is a good chance that Apple will make some design changes.

The leaks do not clarify which model from the new 2019 line-up of iPhones will get the new triple rear camera, but it is safe to guess that both the standard flagship and its Plus or Max variant will. Reportedly, one of the three rear sensors will be a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor, for 3D mapping, made by Sony. The new iPhones, according to reports, will have 3D ToF sensors for both their front and rear cameras. These 3D sensors can help Apple make better Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality apps and features, but keeping costs in check is also a major challenge for Apple, as sales of the 2018 line-up of iPhones continue a sluggish pace.

Huawei P30 Has Gradient Hues

The new leaks concerning Huawei reveal the design of the upcoming Huawei P30, but not the P30 Pro. The Huawei P30 will replace the Huawei P20 and will sport a triple rear camera in a vertical setup. The device will also get gradient colors, as per the leaked renders, in which you can see shades of blue and green. There is a nice red accent on the power button which is on the right-hand side of the device. The volume buttons can be seen with a blue accent.

The 6-inch display on the Huawei P30 has a waterdrop style notch and thin bezels, and you can even spot a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom. Not counting the rear camera unit, the device body measures 7.5mm in thickness, which is sufficiently sleek. There isn’t any fingerprint sensor visible, so the P30 will most probably feature an in-display fingerprint reader technology. According to separate leaks and rumors, the Huawei P30 will sport a 38MP primary sensor for the rear camera, made by Sony and capable of 5x optical zoom. The front-facing camera is expected to have 24MP resolution.
