Huawei has launched a new foldable smartphone in China. The Huawei P50 Pocket is the latest smartphone in the foldable category. Unlike the Mate X-series, the P50 Pocket has a flip phone folding mechanism, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. It packs a Snapdragon 888 SoC under the hood. While the device does pack top-of-the-line specs, it lacks 5G network support. The phone is currently available in China. There is no word on the device’s launch in other markets. Huawei P50 Pocket price
The Huawei P50 Pocket launched today in China is priced at CNY 8988 (roughly Rs 1,06,000). The variant offers 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. There is also a premium Gold Edition with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage priced at CNY 10,988 (roughly Rs 1,29,900). The phone also comes in Black, Diamond White colours.
Specs and features
The P50 Pocket has a 6.9-inch foldable display with a 2790 x 1188 pixels resolution and a hole-punch camera cutout at the top centre. The screen has 120Hz refresh rate support and a 21:9 aspect ratio. It also has a 300Hz touch sampling rate and offers up to 10.7 billion colours.
On the outside, there is a tiny 1-inch cover screen, which is useful enough for checking notifications, date, time, etc.
The foldable phone has a triple-camera setup on the back with a 40MP primary camera sensor and a 13MP ultrawide sensor. It also has a 32MP ultra-spectrum sensor. The device, when folded, measures 15.2mm and weighs 190 grams. In an unfolded state, the phone measures 7.2mm. It does not have Google Mobile Service and instead runs Huawei’s HarmonyOS out of the box. There is no word on the device’s launch outside China at the moment.
