Huawei unveiled two new smartphones Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro last week but did not reveal any wearables. If you were waiting for a new smartwatch from the company, your wait is finally set to be over. The company has announced a new product launch event focused only on wearables. Here is everything you need to know.
Huawei Watch GT 4 Could Launch on September 14
Huawei Mobile shared a post on its official X account revealing next product launch event will take place on September 14 in Barcelona. The launch poster says “Wearable Strategy and New Product Launch” which confirms it will be about wearables. The company will not only launch a new smartwatch but will also likely talk about its plans for future wearable releases.
The post further has hashtags “#FashionForward” and “#HuaweiHealth” along with two images showing glimpses of a wearable. It seems like the company will introduce either new smartwatch designs or watch faces. There is also a possibility that we may see the company detail new health and fitness related features.
It is hard to say what new models we may see at the event but there are a few speculations. Multiple Huawei smartwatches were spotted on the Bluetooth SIG certification website earlier this year. Specifically, the Huawei Watch GT 4 with model numbers PNX-B19 and ARA-B19 was spotted. It is believed the smartwatches will feature Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and will boot HarmonyOS 4.0 with 4.0.0.50 (SP1C00M00) firmware version. No other details about the possible specifications and features are known currently.
It will be a successor to last year’s Watch GT 3. It is a smartwatch available in 42mm and 46mm size options. It sports a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with 466 x 466 pixels resolution. There is 32MB RAM and 4GB onboard storage along with Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. It is packed with a 455mAh battery and supports wireless charging.
In other news, Honor (originally owned by Huawei) is ready to make a comeback in the Indian smartphone market. It is preparing for the Honor 90 launch which would be the first Honor smartphone release in India in a long time. The company has confirmed it would come with Google apps and services, no bloatware, and two years of OS upgrades.
The company has a goal of investing Rs 1,000 crore in India and earning Rs 10,000 crore in revenue by the end of December 2024. It wants to hold a 5% smartphone market share during this time. It will be kicking off smartphone releases in India by importing devices but has plans for local manufacturing as well. It could start producing Honor smartphones in India as soon as early 2024.
