Instagram is rolling out the ability to add song lyrics to Reels, a feature that is already available for its Stories. This was announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri on his Broadcast Channel. Until now, the song lyrics feature allowed users to add lyrics of a song, when available, only to their Stories. The functionality will now be available for Reels as well.
“We’ve seen people manually add lyrics to Reels, so hope this makes it easier to use music to express yourself,” Mosseri said in the update. He also said that the company is working on new creative features for Reels as well. These features could roll out in the coming days.
How To Add Song Lyrics To Instagram Reels
Adding song lyrics to Reels is similar to how users add them to their Stories. To do this users will need to tap on the music icon and add a song. Then, users will need to swipe left to add lyrics. The feature is long due and it comes as a relief to those who had to manually add lyrics of a song to their Reels. The feature is rolling out for Android and iOS users.
Lately, Instagram has been working on a number of new features to make its platform more interactive. Mosseri has hinted at the company working on “updates to get creative on Reels”, though he did not give a timeline or any other details relating to the upcoming features.
Reels recently got the ability to invite up to three friends to co-author a reel. Of course, collaborators will need to accept the invitation for the content to appear on each account’s profile grid. The Add Yours sticker allows creators to invite their followers to join in on a prompt or challenge they create on Reels.
Instagram Testing New Carousel, Option To View Posts From Verified Accounts
Instagram also started testing a new feature where a user’s followers can submit photos and/or videos to be added to their posts. Users will need to turn on the option for their followers to submit content before they post a carousel. Later, users can review the content submitted by their followers and choose to add them to their posts.
Mosseri also posted screenshots of how the feature will work. If the functionality for a post is turned on by the user, then their followers will see a button to add a photo or video to the post. However, do keep in mind that users will need to approve it before they are finally added to their posts.
Prior to this, Mosseri revealed that Instagram is testing a new way for users to explore their Instagram feed. People will have the option to view posts only from Meta Verified accounts in their feed. “We’re exploring this as a new control for people and a way for businesses and creators to get discovered,” Mosseri said in a post.
