Amazon Prime Video will soon get something most of us dread — ads. The company has announced that users will start seeing ads in Prime Video in 2025. Here’s everything you need to know.
Prime Video Will Show Ads Starting Next Year
Those who subscribe to Amazon Prime get an ad-free experience on the Prime Video OTT service. This is about to change in 2025, as the company said it needs funding to continue investing in new content. This will be achieved through ad slots between movies and shows. Amazon assures that the platform will have fewer advertisements than linear TV and other streaming providers.
In its official blog, the company mentions that it will email Prime members several weeks ahead with information on how to sign up for the ad-free option. Having said that, Amazon also clarifies that the current Prime membership will not change in 2025. The price of the new ad-free subscription will be announced later in 2025.
