Google is revamping Summary cards with a new design for purchases, events, bills, and travel emails. Summary cards in Gmail are a valuable tool providing helpful information about orders and deliveries at the top of an email. These cards make it easier for users to stay updated with the latest information without skimming through the email. Here’s all you need to know.
Gmail Gets Improved Summary Cards and Happening Soon Section
According to the official Google blog, the new purchases, events, bills, and travel email summary cards will offer new action buttons. These may include adding an event to the calendar, inviting others to the event, or setting up a bill payment reminder. The new summary cards will also be able to sort important information from all related emails and update in real time.
The cards in purchase emails will show tracking details, order details, and more to help you find what you bought and when it will arrive. Similarly, event email Summary Cards will show upcoming events, add them to calendars, show directions to the venue, and more.
In travel emails, users can manage reservations, check in for flights, check hotel details, and more, all from the Summary Card. Lastly, users can view/pay bills, set reminders, and add a due date in Google Tasks directly from the summary card in bill emails.
Gmail will soon have a new “Happening soon” section to make things more convenient for users. This section will list the most recent updates without requiring users to open individual emails.
Google says this section will appear within Gmail only when there’s a relevant update. For example, if a bill is due in the next couple of days or delivery is scheduled, the Happening Soon section will appear with relevant summary cards for the user to check at a glance.
Google is rolling out the updated purchase summary cards for Gmail users across Android and iOS. The company says the Event, Bill, and Travel Summary Cards, along with the Happening Soon section, will roll out in the coming months.
