Spotify—the popular music streaming platform—recently introduced several new features in its app. These features are designed to improve the app’s listening and playlist curation experience. The latest update brings a visual overhaul, including a redesigned Queue option, automatic track recommendation after playlists, etc. Check out the complete list of new features in Spotify below.
Spotify Rolls Out New Updates to Improve Listening Experience
According to the official Spotify blog, the new updates will be gradually rolled out to users starting May 7, 2025. The key highlight is the upgraded Queue option—three-line icon on the Now Playing screen—with a design overhaul for premium users. The new design allows easy access to Shuffle, Smart Shuffle, Repeat, and sleep timer.
Moreover, the app will suggest tracks after the queued songs end. Users who prefer to play their tracks can turn off Autoplay and Smart Shuffle in the app settings. A new Hide button also allows users to skip songs from playlists across all devices. Spotify Premium users will soon be able to temporarily pause songs from their recommendations using the 30-day Snooze feature.
Premium users can also sort tracks in their Liked Songs list by genre and create an individual playlist. The new “+” Create option in the bottom toolbar lets users quickly create a playlist, collaborate with friends, or join a Blend. Premium users can also use the button to start a real-time group listening session.
Lastly, there is an AI Playlist feature, which lets users build bespoke playlists from creative prompts. For example, you can give a prompt for “leg day workout music,” and the feature will curate a playlist that will get you going in the gym during the dreaded leg day.
These are the new features being added to Spotify. As expected, these features will be rolling out to users gradually.
