Truecaller doesn’t want to get left behind as every company jumps onto the AI bandwagon. The company has announced a new feature to help users detect AI scam calls. It detects whether the voice on the other end belongs to a human or an AI in real-time. Here’s everything you need to know about:
Truecaller AI Call Scanner
According to the company, this new AI Call Scanner feature will analyse the caller’s voice and share the results within a few seconds. To decide whether the scammer uses AI to trick the user, it records the caller’s voice for a few seconds and processes it with an in-house AI model.
Truecaller states that its AI model is trained to recognise the distinct characteristics of human speech and differentiate it from AI-generated voices. Additionally, the company noted that while the process takes a few seconds to complete, it maintains high accuracy.
How to use the AI Call Scanner on Truecaller?
Before enabling the AI Call Scanner feature, ensure your Truecaller app is updated with the latest 14.6 version on Android. Once done, follow the steps mentioned below to enable the newly launched feature:
- Make Truecaller your default calling app to allow the ‘AI Call Scanner’ feature.
- Tap “Start AI Detection” to begin the scan if a call seems suspicious.
- The call will briefly pause for the AI to analyse the voice.
- You’ll see an “Analysing…” message while the AI checks the voice.
- During the call, you’ll get a real-time message indicating if the caller is human or AI.
Note: It’s important to remember that this feature is only available for Android users in the USA at the moment. The company has stated that it will be available in more countries soon. There’s no fixed timeline on when it will roll out to India.
