WhatsApp Working on Instagram-Inspired “Add Yours” Status Sticker

Highlights
  • WhatsApp is testing the ‘Add Yours’ sticker for status updates on its platform.
  • The new sticker allows users to create interactive challenges and prompts within WhatsApp status updates.

WhatsApp status updates will soon feature another Instagram-inspired sticker to enhance the interactive experience for users. WABetaInfo has spotted the Add Yours sticker in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.23.21. Here are the details.

WhatsApp’s ‘Add Yours’ Sticker

With the previously reported poll status sticker and the latest Add Yours, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform is working to make status updates more interactive and fun for its users.

However, WhatsApp’s version will have a limitation. Since WhatsApp status is end-to-end encrypted, the audience will not be able to see who initiated the chain or what was shared by others who contributed. That’s unless other contributors in the thread are in their contacts as well. This ensures WhatsApp’s principles of privacy and encryption are upheld, and users’ interactions are private.

Apart from this restriction, all other features of the Add Yours sticker remain the same as those of the Instagram version. The sticker will bring a dynamic dimension to WhatsApp status updates and increase engagement chances. For example, users can share Halloween outfits, Diwali lighting, Rangoli, etc., and prompt their contacts to share their own.

For the uninitiated, Instagram offers an interactive ‘Add Yours’ sticker for Stories. You can post something like a pet or skyshot and prompt your followers to share their pets or sky pictures by clicking the Add Yours button. The social media platform allows you to see the thread of stories shared under that particular ‘Add Yours’ chain. This interactive nature of the sticker makes it fun for people.

The ‘Add Yours’ sticker is available to a select few beta testers on Android. We expect the sticker to roll out to regular users in the coming months and will keep you posted whenever this happens. So, keep reading MySmartPrice!
