Apple introduced iOS 15, macOS Monterey, and iPadOS 15 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2021. The new operating systems for iPhone, iPad and Mac come with a bunch of new features and security upgrades. One of the new features introduced at the annual developer Apple event allows players to record and save 15 seconds of gameplay at any time using a supported controller. The user simply needs to long-press a designated button on the controller to capture and save the recording. Currently, the software updates are in beta and expected to roll out later this year. Let’s take a look at the new gameplay recording feature introduced in iOS 15, macOS Monterey, and iPadOS 15.

iOS 15, macOS Monterey get gameplay recording feature

Apple announced iOS 15, macOS Monterey at the WWDC 2021. One of the features introduced allows users to record and save a gameplay clip using a controller. Users simply need to long-press the designated button on any supported controller. Once pressed, it will begin recording and save 15 seconds of gameplay, according to MacRumors. Users can press the Share/ Create button on their Xbox Series X/S controller or the PS5 DualSense controller.

The new feature is much simpler and quicker than the current way of starting and stopping the screen recording manually while playing a game. Apple states that this feature is “an awesome way to let gamers capture a great boss battle, an amazing combo move, or an epic fail.”

The new operating systems announced at WWDC 2021 are currently available for developers. Apple has said that the public beta for the mentioned operating systems goes live in July 2021. The company will release the stable release later this year. We can expect an announcement on the same during the iPhone 13 series launch event in September.
