According to Bloomberg, Apple is planning to introduce a new feature that will allow users to set different notification preferences. These preferences can be set depending on the user’s status, which, for example, could be driving, working, sleeping, etc. The upcoming iPadOS and iOS 15 updates will also allow users to set automatic replies to messages depending on the status. Apple will unveil iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 at the WWDC 2021 event. Ahead of the launch, some key features of the upcoming software upgrades have leaked.

According to a Bloomberg report, iOS 15 will offer a new way to handle notifications. Users can enable settings like their iPhone making sound depending on their device status. The feature will be available in the form of a menu that lets users select if they are driving, sleeping, working, etc. Users can also set custom categories. The menu will be shown on the updated lock screen and control centre.

The Cupertino-based giant will also offer users an option to set automatic replies to messages depending on the status. This will be an improvement over the current auto-reply feature, which is only available while driving. It would be the first time the company would offer a systemwide feature for changing notifications depending on the user’s status.

Apple is also working on upgrading iMessage. Details about the upgrades are very limited. The report states that the eventual goal of acting as more of a social network and better competing with Facebook’s WhatsApp. The changes are still in development and could arrive later.

The iPad home screen is also said to get a redesign. However, details about the same are unknown at the moment. We can expect more details at the WWDC 2021 on June 7.
