As expected Apple has released iOS 17.0.3 software update for compatible iPhones yesterday. Alongside, iOS 17.0.3, Apple also released the iPad OS 17.0.3. The newly released iOS 17.0.3 software update fixes the overheating issues on the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Several customers using these devices complained that their units were getting too warm, and also causing the shutdown due to the heat problem. In order to address the same issue, Apple released a new software update yesterday.

iOS 17.0.3 And iPad 17.0.3 Also Includes Several Enterprise-Related Bug Fixes.

The newly released iOS 17.0.3 and the iPad OS 17.0.3 can be downloaded by heading to Settings > General > Software Update section. In a piece of related news, recently Apple had acknowledged some recent updates to third-party apps overloaded the system and caused the heating issue. The apps which affected performance included Instagram, Uber, etc. Apple also clarified to some news outlets that the titanium design is not to blame for the overheating issues, which the previous reports suggested.


Apple analyst Ming-Chi-Kuo also revealed recently that the overheating was due to the compromises made to thermal design. Furthermore, Kuo also confirmed that Apple would fix the issue by lowering the processor performance. Apart from fixing the overheating issue, the newly released iOS 17.0.3 also includes other bug fixes and security updates.

Apple has revealed in the support document that iOS 17.0.3 includes several enterprise-related bug fixes. As per the changelog, Apple has resolved an issue where Apple Business Essentials users were unable to complete setup after updating to iOS 17. Furthermore, the new software update also fixes issues related to managed Wi-Fi networks and Microsoft Exchange event invitations. Apple also have fixed the same enterprise-related bugs in the iPadOS 17.0.3. Last but not least, the new iOS 17.0.3 and the iPadOS 17.0.3 software update also address kernel vulnerability which could have allowed an attacker to gain elevated privileges.

To recall, the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max feature a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display with a 120Hz refresh respectively. These devices are powered by Apple’s new A17 Pro chipset which offers 10% more performance than the A16 Bionic processor.
