Apple iPhone 13 to feature refined matte rear panel, always-on display with ProMotion technology
Apple is months away from the iPhone 13 launch. However, specifications and key features of the upcoming iPhone have leaked. A video from EverythingApplePro, citing tipster Max Weinbach, reveals some of the key details around the iPhone 13’s design elements and its features.
iPhone 13 design and display
The video claims that the iPhone 13 Pro series will get a refined matte finish on the back. It will have a textured design, resulting in a better grip. The device will be slightly more comfortable to hold. Weinbach is assuming that the phone will have a soft matte finish like the Pixel devices.
The premium Pro iPhones will also support always-on display. The functions however will remain limited. Weinbach claims that the clock and battery charge details will always be visible. Notifications, as per the current design, will be displayed using a bar and icons. The display will pop up normally and the screen will not entirely light up when a notification is received.
Apple will also bring support for a 120Hz refresh rate on the Pro models. The video claims that Apple will use LTPO technology found in Apple Watch along with the iPad Pro’s ProMotion display technology.
iPhone 13 camera
In terms of camera, the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup will come with an improved ultrawide camera. It will come with a 5P lens instead of the current 6-piece. The lens will reportedly still be “lower quality” than the other two lenses, but Apple is working to make improvements in this area. Apple will also bring support for Portrait Video – something that it has been working on for quite some time. You would be able to record a portrait video and change the depth of field in post processing.
The video also reveals details about new astrophotography features. Pointing the iPhone towards the sky will switch on the new mode when it detects stars or the moon. The upcoming iPhone will also offer longer exposure times.
