Apple iPhone 14 launch is still a few months away, but the rumours and multiple leaks have told us everything we need to know about the upcoming iPhones this year. We have come across leaked renders that have shown us the design of the iPhone 14 series. We also know that Apple is unlikely to continue with the Mini series. The company is expected to bump up the camera prowess with higher megapixel sensors. And even after all this, we still crave more Apple info that gives us insight into the new iPhones that will be launched in 2022. So we’ve decided to round-up everything we know about the new iPhone 14 smartphone, how much it is likely to cost the buyer and what it brings to the table.
iPhone 14 Expected Price in India
iPhone 14 is likely to be the base model from the series this year. In India, the iPhone 13 was launched for Rs 79,900 last year for the base 128GB variant. And going by these trends, and the prospect of the iPhone 14 being the entry-level model in 2022, we expect the iPhone 14 to be priced at around Rs 70,000 for buyers in India. Similarly, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max price in India is expected to be upwards of Rs 1 lakh and 1.10 lakh, respectively.
iPhone 14 Expected Sale Date
Apple has started seeing India as an important market in the past few years. Because of this, the sale of the new iPhone in India is part of the first set of countries. And we expect that to continue this year as well, with the iPhone 14 sale expected to start around the last week of September or early October.
iPhone 14 Expected Specifications and Features
Here are the expected specifications and features of the iPhone 14 that we hope to see at the launch later this year.
Design Borrowed From iPhone 13
iPhone 14 is not likely to get major design changes this year, and most leaks suggest the new iPhone will borrow its design language from last year’s iPhone 13. So, you can expect the iPhone to have sharp edges, the same camera bump, and a diagonal camera layout.
The phone may feature volume controls on the left and the power button on the right. The lightning port should be at the bottom, sandwiched between the audio speakers. The one major difference could be Apple choosing to go with titanium to build the chassis of the iPhone 14 series which is stronger and keeps the body scratch-resistant.
iPhone 14 Keeps The Notch
Most of us expected iPhone 14 series to ditch the notch and resort to a smaller cut out to give you more screen. But reports have suggested that Apple will keep the good parts for the iPhone 14 Pro models, while the vanilla iPhone 14 picks up the wide notch and the same screen layout. This notch will hold the Face ID sensor as well as the front camera for the iPhone 14, something we have seen since the iPhone X a few years back.
A-Series Chipset To Boost Performance
iPhone 14 should ideally come powered by the new A16 Bionic processor, but the reports communicated via different sources suggest Apple has been forced to rely on the old and the new for its iPhones this year. The vanilla iPhone 14 model is expected to continue using last year’s A15 Bionic chipset, which itself is no slouch, but definitely not an upgrade in terms of the hardware. The new A16 Bionic could be exclusive to the Pro models, probably to help Apple justify the heftier price tag of the iPhone Pros.
iOS 16 Brings More Capabilities
iOS 16 will be announced at the Apple WWDC 2022 on June 6, and the new version will be powering the new iPhones. With iOS getting a slew of features, the iPhone 14 could benefit from the upgrades on the software front.
New And Improved Cameras
iPhone 14 could see most of the upgrades in the camera department. Reports have hinted the new ultrawide camera will bring improvements to the quality of photos. Some leaks have even suggested that iPhone 14 series could have a 48-megapixel primary rear camera but that is unlikely to be the case for the vanilla iPhone 14 variant. Either way, iPhones are due to some new additions, and cameras should be the ideal part to get the upgrade.
Other Expected Specifications and Features
iPhone 14 should continue using a 6.1-inch OLED Retina display and we don’t expect a lot of upgrades on that front. Apple is likely to offer the iPhone 14 with 6GB RAM which should be ideal for high-performance levels. The biggest mystery about the iPhone 14 is around the battery unit and what charging speeds Apple could offer this year. The marginal bump in design could imply that you have a bigger battery under the hood, and we are hoping that Apple could at least offer 30W fast charging support, if not more.
Apple is expected to throw everything but the kitchen sink at the Pro versions once again, with the company keeping features like the ProMotion display (120Hz refresh rate support), the new pill-hole notch, and even the Always-On-Display option limited to the premium iPhone models. The cameras are also going to get a big upgrade, giving Apple every reason to charge the premium it does for the Pro versions.
