- Apple will launch iPhone 15 series in September 2023.
- A report claims that the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models would get costlier.
- The price hike would be the first in eight years.

Apple is gearing up for the launch of the upcoming iPhone series smartphones. The series will include iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The company had discontinued its Mini series due to low sales. They are bringing back SE smartphones to replace the Mini series. A new report has claimed that the upcoming Pro models will be more expensive than previous Pro series smartphones. Jeff Pu, a technology analyst at Haitong International Securities in Hong Kong, predicted (via) that the pricing of the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro series would be higher owing to the rumoured hardware upgrades.
What Would Be the Reason for Price Increase of iPhone 15 Pro Series Smartphones?
Previously in January 2023, there was a rumour regarding the iPhone 15 Pro series getting costlier. The research fellow has said that including a titanium alloy body, a tactile sensor with a taptic engine for haptics, solid-state buttons, an A17 Bionic chip, larger RAM, and periscope lenses for Pro Max are the reasons for the price hike. Adding a periscope would improve the optical zoom performance of the smartphone.
The truth behind the price hike would be known only after once Apple launched the upcoming iPhones. Apple has been pricing the Pro models with a starting price of USD 999 since the launch of the iPhone X in 2017. In contrast, the Pro Max started at USD 1,099, which is the pricing of the iPhone XS Max launched in 2018. However, due to currency fluctuations, Apple had increased iPhone prices outside the USA.
The perfect example would be the pricing of the iPhone 14 Pro, which retails at 1,099 Pounds, as opposed to the iPhone 13 Pro, which was launched at 949 Pounds. Apart from the rumoured technological upgrades, the above-average inflation rate in the United States would be a possible reason for Apple to increase its price in the US. The price rise after six generations would help the company to maintain its profit margins.
However, there are no reports about the price hike scheduled for standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus smartphones. The vanilla versions would feature Dynamic Island, which Apple introduced with iPhone 14 Pro series. Finally, Apple is eliminating the enormous notches that obstruct the viewing experience. Sadly, the company still limits the 120Hz LTPO panel for the Pro series. Like iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, the upcoming standard models would also miss the ProMotion display.
The upcoming iPhone 15 series would be the first to feature USB-type C ports. The shift from lightning ports owes due to the unified port laws by European Union. Apple is scheduled to unveil the upcoming series in September 2023. Another change would be the inclusion of rounded corners of the forthcoming smartphones.
