After the recent launch of the iPhone 14, Apple is apparently gearing up to launch another phone in its SE series. A recent Front Page Tech report revealed that the Apple would soon launch the 4th generation iPhone SE. The report was based on the leaks made by popular tipster Jon Prosser. In the recent leak, Prosser revealed that the iPhone SE4 shares design features with the iPhone XR, which was launched in 2018.

The redesign makes sense given that the first-generation iPhone SE’s design was based on the iPhone 5S from 2013, while the second-and third-generation iPhone SE’s design was based on the iPhone 8 from 2017.

The recent information seems like an extension of Prosser’s previous claim where he said, “The SE 4, from what I understand-and I don’t think I’ve said this publicly-is just the ‌iPhone‌ XR.” He made the claim in August during an episode of the Geared Up podcast with Andru Edwards and Jon Rettinger.

However, Prosser is unclear about the other specifications, though there is a high probability that the phone will use some old hardware to cut down the cost.

Earlier rumours suggest that the iPhone SE4 will feature a 6.1-inch LCD with a notch which is similar to iPhone XR. The rumours were based on information provided by Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst, Ross Young. Young has proven to be a trusted source of information for revealing future Apple products. However, since the iPhone SE 4 does not need to accommodate the TrueDepth camera components, the notch will probably be less noticeable than it is on the iPhone XR. The iPhone SE4 also does not need to have a Face ID. But the phone is expected to feature a side-mounted Touch ID scanner for cost-cutting purposes.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst, was the first to claim that Apple was creating an iPhone SE with a 6.1-inch LCD screen in 2019. However, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to come in three colour shades —Midnight, Starlight, and Product RED. The phone’s launch date is yet to be revealed, but rumours suggest that it will be released at the beginning of 2023.

Meanwhile, in separate news, it has been reported that Apple has cut down the production of the iPhone 14 Plus. It seems that the Cupertino-based tech giant has asked at least one manufacturer in China to stop making components for the iPhone 14 Plus.

It seems that the company is witnessing lower-than-expected demand due to the price point. The iPhone 14 Plus is placed slightly higher than the vanilla variant in India it cost Rs 89,900.

With the iPhone 14 Pro Plus performing worse than expected by Apple, they might just be looking to add more options for people which could influence the release of the iPhone SE 4 quicker.
